Arron Davies- on Slade

Sun Sep 21, 2014 2:58 pm

Arron is a Cardiff fan, and is at Exeter at the mo, a good friend of mine, played under Slade at Yeovil, He said A good manager at that level, unproven at this level and at a club of our size!!! Risk but says he is a good man manager and will always listen to the players. and has a strong view on how he want's to play, So Tan may not be able to hand him paper during the game with his choice of subs. BUT not for me!!

VERY VERY unsure like most fans, a Step back for me :bluescarf:

I can vouch this is true for we all grew up in the same town.

Saying that Slade may not be for you though D..... I know you will still get right behind him if he is appointed :ayatollah:

Look at the bigger picture mate. The club can't afford to go for Pullis or Lennon. The wages will be high and then if/when they don't work out the club can't afford the compensation. Well they can if Tan allows it. It's Tans club and money at the end of the day but overall the clubs debt (financially speaking) to him increases and increases. It will be someone cheap for sure. I am all for and open to the idea of Slade as I am with Young being given a chance. The players we have are good enough to challenge this league.

Arron Davies played well for Yeovil under slade I remember he scored 2 goals in the play-offs against forest who later signed him, unfortunately at Forest he had a serious injury.
I remember Yeovil were a decent side back then under slade but just missed out.
Slade wouldn't be my first choice but you never know it may work out, it's a gamble if true but we do have a decent squad at this level, just need the players settled and organised.
I would of thought most half decent managers should do ok with this squad, but still I'd rather a experienced manager with good contacts who's done it before.

Do you think it's a done deal and will come though? or is he on a sort list?

Yeah I recall all that with Arron and that is when he went to Forest with Cohen. Cohen has managed to do ok but Arron had a bad time of it with injuries and clubs! Always hoped he would come home to city and be a legend! I don't know if a deal has been done with Slade or not. Time will tell! Question is.... who do you want at the helm?

Have to say, it is looking like Slade, like a lot of us would like Pulis but won't happen, so if it is Slade will back him all the way :bluescarf:

Are you serious? We can't afford them?
It's reported that Pullis was on a million a year at Palace & Ole was on 4 million!!

My view on this, we can afford PULIS easy, and others, though Tan seems to be looking at the lower leagues and a cheaper manager! guess in his view wasted millions in compo in last few years

Look at the bigger picture. Yes we can in theory afford anyone but the debt/money owed to Tan keeps on rising hence the club can't afford the big names. Look at the cost cutting going on before Ole left.
