Would he be the right appointment ?
This may help sway supporters opinions
The good :
A very good man manager
Very good at motivating players and is well known for his team talks
Over 20 years of management experience
Brilliant at spotting young players and giving them a chance
Plays attacking football
Works well with tight transfer budgets
Will be cheap with wages
Has won league manager of the year with two different clubs
Won league manager of the month 3 times last season
Seems a popular manager with previous clubs supporters
Very good at turning struggling teams around
The bad :
Never managed higher than league 1 level
Will be mainly unknown to higher level players (can he attract the quality players we will need )
Will not be used to dealing with the big egos of some players at this level
Seems to fail at the final hurdle with teams . ( 3 play off finals - 3 defeats )
Never won promotion with any of his teams
Is he the right man ?
Maybe he's just never had the right opportunity ?

Russell Slade has a much better CV than Ole ever had and I am genuinely happy that the club are considering bringing him in. I want it to be about the football again and not about the manager every game.
Why not give him the opportunity, maybe the club are about to get back to basics with this appt, and if we really think about it, a club of our size should be talent scouting the best managers of lower leagues rather than spending fortunes on awful unproven managers with a playing rep.
Russell Slades Barmy army!

Good summary, but It all adds up to a mid-table finish at best, I'd suggest.

Spot on there are a lot of fans out there who know him better than we do who think will do a really good job for us and like thomas has eluded too he just hasn't had the chance to manage in the championship, Barnsley did make an approach but was turned down by their chairmen. Let's give him 5 or 6 games I think we may be pleasantly surprised and who knows could be exactly what the club needs stability. He won't take no shit and the players won't know what's hit them when he turns up at the Vale. We will see the players that really want to fight and will dig in deep, remember Reading a few years ago in the bottom three went on an incredible run and won the league there is no reason why we can't do the same.

There are a lot of good managers in the lower leagues waiting for an opportunity at a higher level. most will never get that opportunity, some will, & out of that few, one or two could do very well.
Remember, both Pulis & Martinez started in the lower leagues, to name just two.

Spot on.
And you look at some of the big team managers premiership and some championship, they don't all have a great footballing brain but there playing reputations get them the chance.
the Talent in your feet doesn't always make you the best suited man for a role

Malky wasn't known but attracted players. It's the cash and success that does it not the manager.

When Malky was appointed what had he achieved in management? Sean Dyke was his assistant at Watford and took Burnley up last year. Russell Slade has a good track record in football management by the look of things and the loyal Orient fans rate him very highly indeed! There must be something about him to be considered, especially with Neil Lennon also interested.

I think he will establish us as a decent championship team as DJ did, give him 3 years doing that, then a more experienced manager will push us on for a Premier league platt off push, 5 year plan springs to mind, AGAIN

That's the main problem here , I don't think we have 3/5 years financially to stay in this league .
If we don't get straight back up we will be in big trouble IMO

We certainly don't without Tan.
