Gabbidon and Young are unlikely to make massive changes from the team that drew 2-2 at Derby. Craig Noone, surely, will rest up after returning from a groin injury and won’t be asked to play a second match in four days.

There are also a few players carrying minor knocks and they will sit out the Bournemouth clash, but there is expectation that all of them will be ready for Wednesday’s visit to Cardiff this weekend.

Sunday 21/09/14

Scott Young and Danny Gabbidon will manage City v Bournemouth :ayatollah:

Will the current management duo, stick with this line up we played v Derby?

Cardiff City: Marshall ©, Brayford, Manga, Whittingham, Jones, Noone, Connolly, Gunnarsson, Adeyemi, Pilkington, Ralls. Subs: Moore, Le Fondre, John, Daehli, Guerra, Maynard, Morrison.

Team news
There are likely to be some changes to the team that player Derby on Saturday, with the game being an opportunity for some fringe players to have a chance. City fans will be hoping to see Fabio making a return, although it is unclear how long he will be out for.

“If you see anyone that’s in need of a breather then I think it’s wise to give them that.

“Our bench on Saturday was very strong and full of players who have played and excelled in our team, so I have no doubts about the players I will bring in."

Bournemouth missed out on 3 points this weekend after Watford scored a late equaliser in the Championship.

' Cardiff City caretaker coaches keen to continue '

21.09.2014

Cardiff caretakers Danny Gabbidon and Scott Young are looking ahead to next week's game after overseeing a dramatic 2-2 draw with Derby at the iPro Stadium.

Gabbidon and Young revealed they are planning for Tuesday night's Capital One Cup tie with Bournemouth although it later emerged Cardiff may be lining up Leyton Orient manager Russell Slade as a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Whatever happens in the coming days, Gabbidon and Young can reflect on securing a hard-earned point against a Derby side who dominated the game for long periods.

Before news of the Slade interest - confirmed by the current Orient boss himself following their victory at Scunthorpe - broke, Young said: "Our directive was to take charge of the team today and I'm sure we will be having a conversation with the chairman and the owner pretty soon.

"We have the wheels in motion to prepare the team for Tuesday already and we will have a conversation and see where it takes us.

"We bounce off each other, we've known each other for a long, long time and played together many years ago so we are both on the same page which is the most important thing."

AFC Bournemouth: Boss Eddie Howe keen to end League Cup hoodoo at Cardiff City

CHERRIES BOSS: Eddie Howe

Tuesday 23rd Sept 2014
by Ned Payne

BOSS Eddie Howe believes the opportunity to end a jinx stretching back 51 years will give Cherries the perfect motivation to sink Cardiff City tonight (7.45pm).

Cherries have not made the fourth round of the League Cup since 1963 when they defeated Newcastle United 2-1 to set up a clash with Stoke City.

The Dean Court side suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Potters and have not progressed that far since, a state of affairs which could be remedied against the managerless Bluebirds.

And Howe has challenged his troops to end their barren run in the competition against City, who are set to be led by caretaker duo Danny Gabbidon and Scott Young.

Howe told the Daily Echo: “Fifty-one years is an incredibly long time and I think that should be a motivating statistic for us.

“There are all sorts of motivating factors – the 51 years, the chance to draw a big team and the chance to progress as far as you can in the competition.

“I think everyone would appreciate that it’s not the draw we wanted as it’s a long way to go on a Tuesday night, both for us and our supporters.

“But it is what it is and we have to make the best of it. I think it’s a good challenge to go to a big club and try to perform.”

Howe will make late calls on the fitness of Dan Gosling, Shaun MacDonald and Tokelo Rantie but Andrew Surman will not be involved as he is cup-tied.

The boss revealed he had concerns over a couple of other niggling injuries but politely declined to give further details.

During the opening rounds of this season's League Cup, the Cherries squad has been rotated and Howe revealed he would take a similar stance this time round.

Howe said: “We will make a couple of changes bearing in mind the amount of games we have coming up in a short period of time.

“If you see anyone that’s in need of a breather then I think it’s wise to give them that.

“Our bench on Saturday was very strong and full of players who have played and excelled in our team, so I have no doubts about the players I will bring in."

Interesting to see if Guerra finally gets a start. Might as well play Declan at fullback. Ralls was pretty poor anyway, definitely not the answer.

Whitts has been playing a lot so he might be rested. Maybe we´ll see Eikrem or Dikgacoi having a run-out and Burgstaller for Noone. I also expect Guerra to finally have a match.
