Please dont shoot the messenger for those that are interested.
Dave Jones only decided at 4AM GMT when he called Vincent Tan directly in KL to state that he had thought long and hard before deciding to decline the offer of DOF as he thought he still had enough in the tank to Manage a football side totally. He thanked VT for the kind offer and continued to back Cooper to be head Coach/Manager and stated whilst it's unlikely to be offered he would be interested in returning in full management position as previous which could include Cooper.
VT though wants youthful involvement following on from what Swansea have achieved with Gary Monk.
He's not interested in " buying " an in work Manager and wants to build within for the long term future of the club but with some professional football advice and experience to which DJ has done on a friendly basis to VT since he purchased his shares and settled his contract dues from Previous management role.

Dave jones is not the only ex manager tan gets advice off .
Before solskjaer was hired it was known that he had taken advice from a number of different people who had high profiles in English football .
The new d.o.f could be any of them and the advice different

Plenty of clubs have tried dof and failed miserably! Redknapp, Wilkins, curbishley all top experienced professionals have all failed in the dof roll!
If we were going to get a young manager and build for the future we may as well have stuck it out with ole!
Results were not good enough so he went! If the club wants to turn the results around and go for promotion then we need a top pro imminently!

When you think of it is a GOOD idea, to have a young manager who knows the club etc, then if that doesn't work out/he parts company then again we promote someone from within or someone who knows the club so they can continue that philosophy. The only bad thing about is the timing, why now? Why not offer this DOF role in the summer or part company with Ole in the summer?

The problem I see is that to have a club philosophy , it needs to be just that , the whole club needs to buy into it from the kids right through to the development team .
Everybody playing , training and thinking the same way . All the coaches drumming it into the youngsters from a young age and the first team manager buying players who are able to adapt to that philosophy .
It takes years for any of this to come good and I can't see how we have the time to allow this to happen .
Everybody needs to be on the same page , at the moment it's debatable wether they are even reading the same book !
