The Circus is Due in Town

Fri Sep 19, 2014 2:01 pm

My hopes of a quick and successful appointment of the new manager seem to have been dashed so I guess the media circus will now start to speculate who is most likely to get the job.

I got to thinking which acts in a circus show would show the skills necessary for managing successfully in the Championship and beyond:

Human Cannonball: Shot into place hoping that you hit the net safely (Maybe Ole fell into this category).

Tightrope Walker: Precariously trying to go in one direction while keeping balance. Danger both sides and possibly no safety net.

Juggler: Multitasking continuously to keep things going. One lapse in concentration and it's disaster. However, a good juggler can make things look easy.

Clown: Let's not go there!

Lion Tamer: Bravely faces powerful adversaries, although both are part of the act.

Ringmaster: The one who is in charge and doesn't need to show off his skills in the ring. Gets all the others to perform and steadies the ship if things go wrong.

Circus Owner: A businessman who makes sure everyone gets paid and ensures all the acts are the best around.

Of course this is just a bit of fun, but it occurs to me that we are in danger of having an owner who wants to be ringmaster as well. This forces the manager to become one of the acts. In fairness everyone gets paid and the players are quality but the ringmaster must be allowed to work the crowd. Of course you may disagree.
