' UPDATED '

Tan would like Dave Jones to come to Cardiff in some sort of role at the club

Personally I think we will struggle to get a good manager in, under the present regime, my opinion.

Ive just been that Dave Jones will be having talks tomorrow about being caretaker manager or even the manager

Come from a very reliable person :thumbright:

Hmm?

As much as I disliked him,I dont want him,but with this squad,DJ could get us finally up.

Agreed, I'm not the greatest fan but we can all agree that he had nowhere near the resources Malky or Olly had but got us pretty close.

It would appear, on the face of it, to be a safe appointment and after the recent lack of success with a risky appointment m,aybe it's just what we need.

One thing is for sure, the football will be more attractive than either Malky or Olly's teams !!

I can't wait to see us playing gutless football again!

It might work if we could get Terry Burton back to do the actual work. Seems unlikely.

Dave Jones will take us up :laughing5: :laughing5:

At a time when we were averaging 12,000 - 13,000 we were paying the likes of Chopra £20k+ a week. He may have not spent much in terms of transfer fees, but the wages he offered were ridiculous for a club of our size at the time. One reason why we nearly went pop.

Hire a manager we can all get behind, Dave Jones will split opinion right from the start. :x

He's cack. He's got no respect for our Club and no respect for the people of this area. He didn't even do the work himself Terry Burton did the coaching and the tactics...Jones is clueless. A massive mistake in my opinion:bluescarf:

Final season as a City fan if that's the case. No point putting money into a lost cause

As much as I dislike the miserable sod he did an amazing job of rebuilding his team every season after being forced to sell his best player.

If he had been given the financial backing that MM and OGS had I sure he would have got us to the PL and probably kept us there. If it is DJ he will inherit a squad that looks more than capable of challenging at the top of this division so let's hope he does just that.

This squad isn't good enough to get us up.....The midfield is the weakest I've seen at the club for many years.....no fight no pace and not much skill, even Nathan Blake has said we need to bring in 3 or 4 midfielders on loan who have pace.

He wouldn't have to negotiate wages with the players as that has already been done

The aim is to not only get promoted but stay in the premiership. Jonesshad his chance and failed and even with this squad I think he would fail again. If he did however manage to get us promoted he would not be good enough to keep us in the Premiership. There is only one man out of the candidates that could take us up and keep us up and that man is Tony Pulis, his record speaks for itself. If reports are true and he would be intrested in coming here we should be bending over backwards to get him.

That was just for the people who said "He didn't have much money to spend"?

He'd have to motivate them though, wouldn't he?

True and I'm sure he could motivate this squad if he played the right players in the right positions and imo he will do well with this squad ;) but what do I know

No doubt the players are busy organizing a massive pub crawl on Friday night to celebrate.

I'm looking forward to be told on a regular basis that my expectations for the club are much too high as are those of many others in this part of the world.

Oh well, I'll just have to dust myself down and go again.

For Christ's sake if you must employ him just give the tw*t a one week rolling contract.

I would much prefer Pulis, but I have little doubt that DJ would have a good crack at promotion with this current squad, a miserable, arrogant c*nt he may be, but he does have a wealth of experience and according to reports the owner gets along with him, so all in all, possibly not the worst choice to have as manager.

Completely agree mate.

This isn't about a 3 year plan to get us promoted like Jones had previously, financially the club must get promoted this season. He couldn't cope with the expectations 'in this part of the world' last time, and looking back our fans were quite patient. 50% of the crowd will be on his back from the off and he'll crumble, I can see it.

Could it be possible that Tan is looking to have Jones as a football man in the set up. As has been said here before he gets poor advice, possibly due to having none of his advisers are " football" men . For that jones could be quite useful perhaps?
