A forum for all things Cardiff City

Cardiff City Football Club wishes to confirm that Ole Gunnar Solskjær has stepped down from his position of first team manager with immediate effect today following recent discussions.
Speaking on the news, Cardiff City Chairman Mehmet Dalman said, “Having spoken with Ole on deciding the best course of action for all parties, I’m sorry to say that we have agreed that it is in the best interest of the Club for us to go our separate ways.
“Ole has been a wonderful professional to work with since his arrival at the Club. Due to a difference in philosophy of approach to the game, we have decided to part company amicably. He and his family will always be welcome at Cardiff City. I know I have gained a good friend whom I wish well and remain confident in his future success.”
Tan Sri Vincent Tansaid, “Ole was hired by Cardiff City on our understanding and belief that he would help us fight relegation from the Barclays Premier League. Unfortunately that did not happen. After the Club was relegated many people advised me to let him go, but I decided to keep Ole on for the Championship season. Regrettably our recent results do not justify Ole’s continued role as manager at Cardiff.
“Ole has therefore decided to step down and I have accepted this. During my short association with Ole, I have found him to be an honest and hardworking professional, but unfortunately the football results were not in his favour. As long as I am the owner of this Club, Ole and his family will always be welcome in the Chairman’s Suite as my guests. I wish Ole the very best in his future career in football. We now begin the process of finding his replacement and working towards giving all our stakeholders in Cardiff City the results they deserve.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjærsaid, “I want to thank Vincent for giving me the opportunity to manage Cardiff City FC. He has my full respect and I really wish him all the best in his pursuit of making this football club successful. However, our difference in philosophy on how to manage the club made me decide to step aside and allow the Club to move forward in the direction Vincent wants.
“I leave the Club with some very talented players and want to thank them for their efforts and hope to see them challenge for promotion this season. I also want to thank Mehmet Dalman for his continued and loyal support and feel I have gained a new friend.”
To date Cardiff City have won two, drawn two and lost three of the opening Sky Bet Championship fixtures and is currently in 17th place in the Championship table. The Club has also progressed to the third round of the Capital One Cup in a fixture to be played next week. All at Cardiff City would like to thank Ole for his professionalism and contribution to the Club, wishing him every future success.

Sums it all up really:
has my full respect and I really wish him all the best in his pursuit of making this football club successful. However, our difference in philosophy on how to manage the club made me decide to step aside Too much tampering by the mangement and owners with the playing side and not letting the team manger manage!
What lower rate looney are we going to end up with now?

Good luck Ole.....and well done Cardiff.

I don't agree with chopping and changing managers here and there but that said, Ole kept tinkering and our results haven't been good enough. I wish him all the best though, and I only hope the board make a decent appointment; someone with experience.

Yeah, Ole wanted to use squad rotation, and Vincent Tan ( as well as most of us) want the strongest team out every game!
Can make assumptions as much as you like to serve your agenda.

My God
"Difference in Philosophy" looks like the stories have been correct - Play the game Vinnies way or it's the highway.
What manager of any worth is going to accept this job with VT wanting to pull the strings. No way will Pulis be interested if that's the case.

Ole was a Gentleman and Good Luck for the Future

I'm guessing Tan's philosophy involves actually winning some games whereas Ole's philosophy was .........well I've no idea really but then neither did Ole.
A bit of a dig from Ole I think to try and persuade future employers that someone other than him was to blame for the exceedingly poor record he had during his time as our manager.

What a load of old tosh, fella!
It has already been stated that the so-called 'interference' was in others heads (obviously including yours) and if you think the team's current predicament isn't down to the coaching staff, then I'm sorry but I think you may attach the last sentence to yourself!
Ole has gone, Tan admitted he made an error in keeping him at the end of last season and (rightly) he has decided to move on and freshen things up!
Any good owner/manager would do the same,
IF they had the best interests of their business in mind; it's simple economics!

Nice and dignified statement from all involved.
Wish him all the best in his future endeavours, would like to see him prove everyone thats been ridiculing him wrong, he's a decent man thats never been anything but a gentleman.
Might take a while, but if he can use this experience he will become a better manager. Many, many managers have been sacked after failing some point, Brendan Rodgers was sacked in the championship. Klopp was relegated and failed promotion in his previous club. Good luck to Ole!

agenda, what agenda. I don't care one way or another anymore, all I know is that when management say different philosophys, they are normally involved with the decision making, and that should never happen in football.
If Ole wanted squad rotation, that's what he does and should be allowed to get on with it. If Tan wants something different then he makes it clear in his contract so that there is no misunderstanding.
Probably issues from both parties but what is obvious is that Ole wasn't dealt a free hadn like most managers!
OK? No agenda, just what I've read, seen and know from 30 years of business management! Keep smiling!

everything about that statement tells me that they've decided on bringing in a Director of Football

All the best for the future, Ole. These things happen in football
