Dundee will fight tooth and nail to rebuff any interest from Cardiff City in manager Paul Hartley.

Overnight the Dark Blues boss emerged as favourite to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the Welsh club.

And it’s understood Hartley is high on the list of the people they want to interview for the job.

Word from Wales is that they were planning to contact Dens Park today to seek permission to speak to him.

So far that hasn’t happened, but the Dens board are aware of the situation and ready to battle to keep the man they regard as the best young team boss in the country.

They believe he is at the start of something special with the Dark Blues.

There is an acceptance if they’re right one day a bigger club will lure Hartley away, but there is a determination not to let that happen for several seasons.

Let's hope they (Dundee) get their way, Annis!

Another "one for the future" is not what we (and I mean the fans, as well as the club) need right now!

We need "proven track record" not "worth a punt"

Has to be the best option surely??? Why go for another unknown, unproven...I'm sure he's another tidy guy, but he didnt lead Dundee straight up. They won the league one play off... We need someone who has the experience to not only pick us up and give us a lift , but drive the team on and get the best out of what we have available. Pulls is the best option.... He will steady the ship and kick on....

Haven't we just had a bright young manager?
In this league we need an experienced manager not one that got zero experience except in a glorified pub league.

IMO we do, the way forward, might take a season or two but so be it, patience is needed, prob being, a lot of our newer fans only been used to good times, wembley trip, promotion, at some point we need to start again, move forward, we don't want , with due respect to Pullis, a manager that is coming to the end of his career, as I think Pullis next job will be his last before he retires. Just my opinion.

It would be a fair and valid point IF Cardiff city FC had the time to nurture such a manager

Sadly, they don't! Cardiff city FC NEEDS to get back into the Premier League sooner rather than later and that has its own pressures. Pulis has a proven track record for getting the best out of is teams and would be the best out of the names linked to date!

And I'd fight to keep him at Dundee.

Not physically of course :old: but perhaps stop him at the new Scottish border from leaving his home country.

He needs instant promotion.

He's probably just one name on City's list of possibilities. Clubs usually approach a few, then draw up a shortlist. Remember the names mentioned before Malky got the job?

Scottish football is in a strange state at the moment. Rangers, Hearts, and Hibs are all outside the SPL. difficult to gauge how good people are.

Some great managers from Scotland over the years, though. Jimmy Scoular and Frank Burrows to name but two.
