A SOLID DEFENCE TO BUILD ON

Thu Sep 18, 2014 7:46 am

I don't know too much about this Hartley chap (probably like most of us), and most of us will know what Pulis can bring to the table.

How about their respective styles of play? Pulis likes big, strong players, builds from the back and inevitably plays everything into a big striker (like Kenwyn), so personnel wise he probably has a good squad to work with. Some big lads in our squad with the likes of Manga, Connelly, Adeyemi, Pilkington, Kenwyn etc...

Hopefully Tan/Dalman acknowledge that we need a solid defence to build from (based on what we've seen under Ole) and maybe this is influencing who they go for.

Despite his other failings, under Malky the football was rarely exciting but we had a settled, strong defence and rarely conceded more than 2 in a game.

Does anyone know what style/pattern of play Hartley adopts with his teams?

All xi players chase the ball all over the field and in all positions and keep the ball off the deck as the pitches are frozen and full of mud... Judge the wind and shoot for the corner flag and watch it bend in. #scottishLeague1
