Square pegs in round holes

I think the main reason we are playing poorly is because Ole hasn't got the balance right and is constantly playing people in alien positions to what they are used to (Macheda left wing?!?! Gunnarson just behind the strikers???)

To get the best out of the squad you have you have to play them in the positions they are comfortable with otherwise you are going to continue to get substandard performances.

Once Ole has decided on what he believes is his best formation to play, play the players who are best equipped, and be ruthless in his decision making. If he thinks player A is better in a certain position than player B then play player A obviously - but then DO NOT FIND A PLACE for player B because you want him in the starting 11 too.

Live & die at your sword - that's what managers are paid to do.

I think once the formation and team are in sync the performances and eventually results will come. Until then expect more of the same.

Ps I've been asked what my first 11 would be if I was manager & everyone was fit and I can honestly say I wouldn't have a clue. I do sympathise with Ole to a degree on this but he's brought the players in so he can't moan he hasn't had the backing.

I do think for all his deficiencies off the pitch Malky showed us the way to go up and that was to be difficult to beat. I think we lost 8 games in 46 the year before last (and I may be wrong but I can't remember us losing 2 on the bounce).

With that in mind I would probably play if all fit:
Marshall

Brayford
Turner
Manga (on the basis at £5m he's going to start!)
Fabio

Adeyemi
Dickachoi (when fit!)

Noone
Daelhi
Pilkington - possibly?

Jones (as he's the one scoring the goals - however we are not short of quality up front so you can take your pick!)

Boro tomorrow has already turned into a massive game. Let's get the season back on track! :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

Feel exactly the same mate, play players in their natural positions. He's brought some great signings in but we're never going to see the best out of them whilst he continues to play them out of position. Get the balance right and I'm sure with the players we've got we will be in with a big shout come the end of the season. Yes players are going to be unhappy but I'd rather have players unhappy because they can't get in the team because we're doing well than having a disjointed unsuccessful team.

Something needs to change either Ole's approach or unfortunately Ole himself needs to move on, I'll give him my full support whilst he's in charge but he doesn't fill me with confidence.

spot on fella.

The squad is good enough for us to be there or there abouts come May - and like you I think we'll be fine, no real need to knee-jerk yet (and for those who say asking for Ole to go as he's had 29 games I feel that's harsh as many of his signings now weren't there then.)

That said the honeymoon period is well & truly over and the results and certainly performances need to pick up quickly. We haven't been anywhere near the side I thought I'd be seeing so far this season and I think it all stems back to having an unbalanced side the the players who are constantly being played out of position are not buying in to the manager's philosphy - and to be honest I see their point.

We'll get the points tomorrow, I'm reasonably confident things will turn around, then it's on to a huge test at Derby. If we can take 3 tomorrow and run away from Derby with a point then i doubt many will complain.
