Kenwyne Jones has proved no slouch in front of goal too with four goals in six appearances, the most recent of which was the equaliser to give the Bluebirds a share of the spoils at Fulham last time out before the international break.

The 29-year-old has been more used to plying his trade in the Premier League for the last decade but has taken to life back in the Championship again with real relish.

Solskjaer admits to being amazed by Jones’ attitude this term.

“In Kenwyne’s case, when strikers score goals they do their job. He is a lot fitter this season and more vocal in the group than he was last season. I thought he could make a difference for us this season and he has made that difference.

“He hasn’t surprised me really as he was the first striker I brought into the club. It was just about getting him smiling. You see his work rate in training and it’s about fitness, really. He’s doing his spin classes and in the end, he says to my fitness staff he wants to do extra and we know the fitter you are the better you are.”

Totally with you there. His fitness was in question last season, but also his attitude was criticised. Whatever button has been pressed this season, he is miles better. His commitment is huge and he's not too proud to do a bit of graft as well as the glory stuff in front of goal.

He has to be a contender for most improved player and player of the season so far.

Absolutely right, his commitment has improved greatly this season, laying off balls in attack and endeavouring to help out defensively, a vast improvement. Apropos of nothing, why can't we have the substitutes named on the big screen as they are part of the match day squad :ayatollah:

Not only playing wise but very interesting to see Kenwyn giving out orders and providing leadership on Saturday.

I'm not totally convinced by Olly but he's certainly got the best out of Kenwyn :ayatollah:

Ole seems to have a habit of taking off players who are playing well. Jones has repeatedly played well and been taken off.

He holds the ball up well and with everything in the air. I believe on Saturday, Macheda should have been taken off second half & Jones should have been left on the pitch.

An opinion shared by many.
Did Macheda do anything after 5 minutes?

I'm glad Kenwynne is finally beginning to plat to his true potential which he showed in his early days at Southampton and Sunderland. He must be wondering what he's got to do to stay on for the full 90 minutes after the way he played Saturday . How about making him captain because he showed some spirit before his substitution.
