Our biggest terrace legend?

Sun Sep 14, 2014 11:00 pm

So when I started following City in 84/85 a lot of the older heads were drifting away....I knew names like Rawlings and Mannings but they were a world away from us youngsters....I heard about Mad Frankie and once met an old fella who's name I was never sure about either Boozer or Bruiser but he had some stories to tell...

Who were your heroes of the terraces back in the day.....

Through the 70s all I heard was Frankie. Finally met the guy about 5 years ago.

Frank has a few of the lads (quiet a few) around most Saturday mornings for a pint in his garageg before games as he lives a stones throw away from the ground he was the main man for years on the Grange end throughout the 70's, I know boozer well from Llanrumney (my neck of the woods) he was on the peripheral of B troop in the 80/90's along with Jamo, Chuggy amongst others.

B-Troop... Jamo, "the Bakers", Glenn Waith, Pelham Morgan and a tall guy whose name escapes me. Tight knit group.

Mannings? ... hardly a terrace legend, just an approachable regular who was fairly harmless.

Mannings was very a funny guy , I remember when Wales were playing at anfield and on the same day we had plymouth (i think) early ko. Well we bumped into Mannings on his own in Liverpool with all his shirt ripped open , apparently he fronted 20 Everton and said "I'm Mannings and I'm 38 yrs old & I don't f**k about"

Agree about the Barry Boys in the seventies, they were a cut above the rest, some serious lunatics amongst them. Got to mention Bubble ( mike Borge) from that era, he was the gamest city fan I've seen, and Rudi Pika, r.i.p., was not a bloke to be messed with either.

Frank, Colin, Rawlings aka the legend. Most areas of cardiff seemed to have a "tasty" selection of loons that would turn out for the city
