Recap.....Its 3:30 on Saturday afternoon and 2 - 0 to the City. We are playing some great passing football. Then for the next 10 to 15 minutes we start to defend the lead. We dont defend well but get to half time.
At half time we are all saying that if Norwich score City will be in trouble.
second half Jerome comes on and the whole of their team start PRESSING City when we are in possession. We need to match their COMMITTMENT ......we dont .....
Early in the 2nd half Norwich score and we COLLAPSE. Not just the defence but the whole team. We dont press the player in possession....imho
Some lessons1/
Captain Find an outfield player who is ( or can be) a leader on the pitch and make him captain quickly. Ideally a central defender or midfielder. The body language after Norwichs first goal spoke volumes. No one geeing up the City players and shouting instructions. Ten players walking slowly back to the centre spot with their heads down and hands on hips etc
2/ Make sure you have a team who are fighters and resolute[/b].
Neither PW not KJ played that badly but when you are in a battle you have to role up your sleeves and do the basics. I think PW may need to be on the bench for some (maybe most) games. I am not convinced by KJ although I hope I am wrong.
3/keep some
pace on the pitch
hopefully Noone will help here.
4/
substitutes Usually when you take off an attacker, replace the player who has contributed least ie Macheda. And tell Macheda to track back rather than leaving his team outnumbered. [ If KJ is only fit for 70% of the game pay him 70% wages!].
They are now OGSs squad and he needs to get results over the next 6 games. I hope that he does!!!
M of m City - gunnerson in the first half
2nd half no City player worthy of that tag so but m of the half was Jerome by a mile
They are now OGSs squad and he needs to get results over the next 6 games. I hope that he does but my faith is being tested
