Ole Gunnar Solskjaer " The players will definitely bounce back on Tuesday "

After watching his side surrender a two goal lead against Norwich to lose 4-2 at the Cardiff City Stadium, Ole Gunnar Solskjær spoke to the media and press, evidently frustrated by the Bluebirds’ second half showing.

“You can look at the first half and say that it was the best so far this season,” said the Gaffer. “But then you look at the second half and it was the worst so far.

“The Championship is all about consistency so we are really disappointed with that second half today.

“I thought we started well after the break as well, as we had a fantastic chance with a great save by Ruddy. That could have been game over but within four or five minutes they scored two goals and unfortunately we didn’t have the answer to come back.

“After that in the second half we didn’t get the first balls, we didn’t get to the second balls and we didn’t move our feet quickly enough. There are simple things in football that you’ve got to do that we simply didn’t do.”

While City’s performance after the break certainly allowed the visitors back in to a game that had seemed to be out of their grasp, Solskjær felt that half time changes by the Canaries also played their part, adding: “I have to say Cameron Jerome did change it for them and made a huge difference. They came at us and we defended bravely at times but then the little things went against us.

“If you’d gone home at half time you’d say that we were in a great vein of form, but if you’d only seen the second half then it would obviously not be so good. You need consistency in this league and we didn’t have that today.

“You lose games in the Championship. It’s about trying to get a point when you don’t perform well in the second half, for example. You’ve just got to stick in there, we will recover.”

Of course, Ole now has the task of rallying his troops ahead of Tuesday evening’s CCS encounter with Middlesbrough. The City boss promised that his players would bounce back against the Boro.

“We’re looking at Tuesday now. The players will definitely bounce back,” Ole said. There’s no worry about that and the character of them.

“In the Championship you don’t have time to think too much because the next game comes straight away.

“Luckily, we don’t have to think about it for a week. We recovery mentally and physically, prepare for Tuesday, and know that we’re going to get a reaction.”

Cardiff City boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits he's worried after watching his team capitulate against Norwich City
Sep 14th 2014

After his team produced their best first half performance of the season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted he's worried after they conceded four in the second half

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits he's worried after Cardiff City's woeful defeat against Norwich.

After his expensively assembled charges surrendered a 2-0 half time lead to go down 4-2 at home to Norwich, the under-fire Norwegian said: “Conceding four goals is a worry. Results-wise it is worrying, but the performance was Jekyll and Hyde.

“If anybody had just seen the first half they would have said Cardiff are in a rich vein of form, while the second half was not good.

“We need consistency and did not have that.”

The former Manchester United striker must now prepare his team for a second big home match of the week when Middlesbrough come to the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday.

“In the Championship there is no time to think too much,” said sorry Solskjaer. “We will recover mentally and physically and prepare ourselves for the match against Middlesbrough.

“We must have a reaction from the players.

“Our first half showing was the best this season and when you look at our performance after half-time it was the worst so far. Which of those will we see against Middlesbrough, The Championship is about consistency and we were disappointed.

“We started the second half well and their goalkeeper made a fantastic save from Federico Macheda. If that had gone it it might have been all over.”

But in the opposite dugout, Neil Adams brought former Bluebird Cameron Jerome onto the pitch for Kyle Lafferty at half time in a substitition that changed the pace of the game.

It was fitting that Jerome, who scored 24 goals in 73 appearances while making his name as a Bluebird, rounded the scoring off after causing mayhem in Solskjaer's defence.

Out of respect, he declined to celebrate the goal and Solskjaer who knows more than most about hitting the back of the net, was full of praise for him, saying: “Cameron Jerome was outstanding against one of his former clubs. He showed power, pace and a goal threat. He scored and deserved that goal.”

He needs to look at himself and play the expensive signings .

Fact that not one person would have selected that team yesterday is a sign he does not know what he is doing

He is bound to say all that, but in my opinion if he really believes that, he is deluded. We can all see that players look lost, being played out of position each week, the fans don't know what's happening and more importantly neither do the players. I always said give him ten games to see how he's doing, but nothing is improving, results and performances are erratic from week to week. We haven't seen what could be considered a solid display since Ole arrived, the biggest concern for me, is that there has been no improvement at all. Is he learning anything? As he says he is, I don't see any evidence of it.
The first half was decent, the goals were superb, however, Norwich were poor, they didn't get at us. The team selections are baffling, with a wealth of striking talent, we have Gunner as the most attacking threat at some points, yesterday! I would love Ole to succeed, but you have to be pragmatic and realistic about these things. My gut feeling from the start, was always that Ole was probably not good enough, however I was willing to give him a chance, as he was an up and coming manager, who was thought highly of within the game, in the hope that he could bring an entertaining anf fresh approach to our game. Unfortunately, the worst fears are coming to fruition that he is out of his depth. I will never boo the team as many did yesterday but will neither support a manager out of blind loyalty, if he is not performing in his job, there can be no sentiment, he has to be replaced. For me, it's not the results so much, it's just the tactics and performances are nowhere near what is required, those are the areas that a manager controls and so far Ole has been found wanting.

That statement from Ole is the start of the end for him.

That is if we suffer two defeats in the next two games he will resign.

I was all for giving him a season but after this latest fiasco he really has to go, we have a squad of players who on paper should be doing well but looked like headless chickens in 2nd half and have been poor in every game. Ole goes on about consistency!! Well he needs to look at himself, we are never going to gel if he can't stop swapping and changing.

Sorry Ole but I wonder just how many of the team that started yesterday will have the opportunity to "Bounce Back" by starting again on Tuesday evening. That's the biggest problem in my opinion constantly changing starting 11, constantly changing tactics but what the hell at least we are consistenly underperforming. We even managed to make Fulham look half decent.

Time to get this squad organised and in my opinion it's clear OGS doesn't have the wherewithal to do that so let's get someone in who is capable of at least doing that.

Plenty of managers with a proven track record in the Championship of having teams competing at the top end of the table. Dave Jones, Billy Davies, Roberto Di Mateo, Gianfranco Zola, Brian McDermott, Tony Pulis and Chris Houghton are just a few.

That's without looking at guys like Tim Sherwood, Steve Clarke, Neil Lennon and Rene Meulensteen.

In my opinion any of those guys would get organisation into the team and the consistency to get us moving towards the top end of the table.

With this squad that's exactly where we should be.

Here's the thing:

If you take a one month spell from all the top sides in Championship, can you find a drop in form from any of them (or a drop in results). I'm sure you can, but to call for Ole to be sacked or resign this early in the season is madness in my opinion.

I remember a while back everyone calling for Arsene Wenger to be fired. Look at Arsenal now!!

What planet are you living on?? :laughing6: Your seriously comparing Ole with Wenger  Ole has done feck all as a manager, where as Wenger manages one of the biggest teams in world football and has qualified every year for champions league football. Some of our supporters are quite simply, clueless

You misunderstood my post big-time:

Of course I'm not suggesting Ole is in the same category as Wenger! I'm saying that even the most successful managers have the odd blip where there is a drop in form or results. In fact, Mr. Knowledgeable, Arsenal have been, up until recently, bereft of silverware so it depends how you measure success.

Some of our supporters are clueless, I agree. Start with a look in the mirror. If you decide to insult me (by implication and other fellow fans),try to get the gist and spell your words grammatically correctly in future. You look a bit silly at the moment in my opinion.
