The often criticised Bluebirds fans turn arrest figures on their head by becoming the good guys of football
Cardiff City Stadium was the most secure ground to watch Premier League football in the season just gone, official Home Office figures released today reveal.
The Bluebirds may have finished bottom of the table on the field of play, but when it came to good behaviour from the fans they were top of the league.
The Home Office figures show just one Cardiff fan was arrested at home games in the Welsh capital during the historic 2013-14 Premier League campaign.
That figure is better than any other top flight club, with Manchester United topping the league of shame following 68 arrests of their fans at Old Trafford.
The Cardiff hierarchy have worked painstakingly behind the scenes to rid the Bluebirds of the hooligan element who previously tarnished the club’s name.
The Home Office figures appear to vindicate the action taken by Cardiff officials.
The statistics also show there were 15 Cardiff fans arrested during away matches, bringing their total for the season to 16.
That put them fourth best in the Premier League table, with Norwich (four arrests), Swansea (nine) and Southampton (14) the only clubs were fewer arrests in total.
Manchester United had most arrests, with a home and away tally of 112, followed by Manchester City on 71 and Arsenal on 67.
The Bluebirds were still second in the number of active banning orders with 93, but most of those were historical and will have played a part in making Cardiff City Stadium a more secure venue in the Premier League.
There were 11 new banning orders imposed on Cardiff followers last season, with Newcastle topping the pile on 95.
