Cutbacks for the good of the club

Wed Sep 10, 2014 9:14 pm

Cardiff City will limit the number of stands that are open for the League cup game against Bournemouth. As well as the Canton Stand it has now been decided the upper tier of the Ninian Stand will not be open to supporters.

Vincent Tan has decided to cost cutting exercises and a meeting to discuss options involved not opening parts of the ground for cup games with expected low crowds.

Less stewarding equals less costs.

The hope is that as well as cost saving, it will help with the atmosphere that fans are congregated in one area and not dispersed around different parts of the stadium.

Various cutbacks behind the scenes are also taking place. The match will also be a police free game.

Ticket sales for the match against the Cherries have been slow to date.

He's looking to cut costs and losses, but he's losing money due to the rebrand..?

somebody always has to get the rebrand issue in :(
At least the club are trying to save money and not just spend money we didn't have. Hmm.

Makes complete sense to me as 3rd round games in previous season, like 2011/12 when we made the final, attract around 8,000 so keeping matchday costs as low as possible is good business practice.

You have to laugh at the suggestion that VT is making these decisions though, it's not like there is a management structure in place to deal with this sort of stuff.

Everything has to have a Tan 'decided' lately?

What the bloody hell have we got senior staff and board members for, these should be proactive decisions by them!

I'll guess that it feels better for them not have fans abuse them for decision making but it is common sense to have only a few parts of the ground open given the game and expected crowd.

Don't close the stands, get rid of the CEO and other large costs if Tan makes the decisions, then we can have a normal ground open!! :old:

Annis as you know Ive spoken to the club before about using agency staff across the board as it would save thousands but then certain people left the club and nothing come of it. Things like this should have been done years ago

If Vinny T is making these sort of decisions, he should cut further costs by making the stadium managers position redundant.....

It was just before Tan got really involved. TG/Ridsdale and Alan Whitely were at the club at the time. During the Blackpool playoff season

You mean tan is making money because of it as he will have to lump up the losses in loans with APR on :laughing6:
