' We spent £10m '

Sun Sep 07, 2014 8:00 pm

We spent £10m on two centre halves, that is a hell of an outlay for any Championship team.

Morrison and Manga.

Wonder how much we spent in total on this current City squad?

You've got to give it to Tan, he has backed Ole to the hilt !!!

Dave Jones could have only dreamed of such backing, and got us near, Ole will be under pressure to get us up.

I am hoping that these defenders will allow the midfield to concentrate more supporting the Strikers than protecting the defence :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

That was a figure quoted by Hudson, I don't think it would've been that high, saying that Manga is statistically superior to Caulker so I think it was a steal.

Agent of Morrison said to a Reading reporter who was tweeting regularly when he was linked to us said the fee was 3.5 million so was Manga 6.5 million?

I suppose there could be an element of this^^^^

However, anyone who knows about football understands that investing money is one piece of the jigsaw. Having the right manager is another element, but luck plays a huge part (injuries in the team, injuries in opponents' teams, media, etc.) and The Championship is notoriously hard to get out of (as any Cardiff fan knows!!!!).

Ole is under pressure, as are all managers, but to expect him to gain promotion first time is a little unfair, especially if the odd decision goes against you and affects the outcome of some games.

I'm all for positivity and incentives, but let's make sure it doesn't break him before he starts.

Also bear in mind that ole doesn't put the ball in the net. The players must take responsibility too.

a little unfair ??

he was here for many months last season when we got relegated ?

the managers tactics are open for judgement....I hope he does well.

It's difficult to put an exact figure on how much has been spent on our current squad because in many cases the price the club paid is reported with wide variences. However I believe it's pretty safe to say that our current squad has cost north of £30m.

http://www.transferleague.co.uk/footbal ... sfers.html

I'm sure many will disagree with the figures quoted but I suppose another question is what are the players signed on bosman or for undisclosed fees worth;

Moore, Fabio, Cala, Connolly, Burgstaller, Berget, Dikgachoi, Macheda, Guerra, Also the younger players like John, Ralls and Harris.

My best guess is that our squad is worth in the region of £40m, that figure would likely increase if we do get promoted this season but if we fail the opposite would likely apply. An important consideration given the fact the club has spent £60m on players over the last 4 seasons whilst recovering only half of that in transfer fees.

Another reason why in my opinion the pressure is going to pile on OGS if we are not in the mix for promotion this season.
