The fact daehli would flourish in the number 10 role in this system is another reason I feel ole should change formation, would benefit the team all around I think. The chances he would create would be great for the team and whoever is playing up top, not to mention nooney and pillkington causing havoc and scoring a few goals too. I like the idea of 4-4-2 and two strikers but I can't see how it's gonna work for this team and don't think we have the players in midfield to make this work.

I agree with you, at least in the most important matches against the toughest opposition. The support Dæhli offers defensively down the wing is marginal (though not completely non existent) and the amount of chances he can create is going to be much larger from the pocket area.
A good space chasing striker in front of him is already secured in Macheda. Guerra can also fill that role.
4-4-2 should be used against lower three-quarters of the table teams.

Yeh I agree with you also, we have the players for 4-2-3-1 to flourish and I think with this system we would tear the championship apart, but with 4-4-2 can see us struggling.
And like you say we have two good strikers to play the lone striker role in guerra and macheda. Both intelligent players who are good finishers, strong and offer good link up play, mobile and technically good, kenwynne has done well lately but I can't say he has the same attributes as guerra and macheda for the lone striker role.

No chance, he played as a ten v Palace and was terrible. He's too weak at the moment and in a 4231 he will get isolated and ineffective. In a 41212 narrow diamond he would get the support he needs and not as isolated.
He will be an amazing player but it's too soon for what is being suggested.

Agree with this.
I think Ole is too hung up about playing 2 strikers at the moment due to the amount he has brought in. We have been getting overrun in midfield far too often, especially away from home.
I also agree with you saying we dont have the players in midfield to make a 4-4-2 work. It looks as if Ole is sticking with whitts, and with him in CM alongside dickagoi/Adeyemi we just dont look to have the right balance and we seem to be getting overrun in midfield/not being able to keep possession.
Maybe play 4-2-3-1 away and revert back to 4-4-2 at home?

I disagree with what your saying because you can't judge his ability to be that number 10 playmaker on one performance v palace. Added to the fact he's been in the gym bulking up and is stronger and more mature player than last season also championship is a weaker league and he would flourish in that role at championship level and develop and play the role better and better.

Whitts is a liability to our team imo, lacks the urgency and drive and ability to drive move the ball forward dribble and create chances and get into attacking situations, he is a liability because of these reasons in both a 4-4-2 and 4-2-3-1 therefore I would drop him. Holds the team back imo. Dead ball specialist that's all he is imo.

I think the 4-4-2 can work but I would much prefer to see it with a narrow diamond with Daehli in the 10 role. The other three midfielders would the need to be Dikgacoi at the base and Then two box to box midfielders (From Adeyemi, Ralls, Eikrem, Whitts and maybe Gunnar in a pinch as I do not rate him very highly). This however leaves the like of Noone and Pilkington on the bench as they are not the sort of players to play in that sort of formation. The width comes from the fullbacks bombing on.
----------------Marshall
Brayford-Morrison-Manga-Fabio
----------------Dikgacoi
----------Ralls-------Adeyemi
-----------------Daehli
---------Guerra------Macheda
The only other option is the Man City style 4-2-2-2. This still needs the width coming from the Fullbacks.
----------------Marshall
Brayford-Morrison-Manga-Fabio
----------Dikgacoi-Adeyemi
----Daehli------------------Whitts
---------Guerra------Macheda

I tend to agree that Whitts doesn't seem to fit in to well with whatever system OGS ends up playing.
Wouldn't be surprised if he gets rotated out more and more over the coming months. Could be the kick he needs to step it up much like he has done previously.

Beacuse we have 5 strikers he is going to stick with 2 up front so this wont be possible....

Against palace?? I don't remember that
I remember he played as a 10 against Wigan last season in the FA cup was, was Man of the Match. I think you have to give him more than one go at the position tbh. I can agree that its a bit of a worry that he is maybe too weak though.

So because we got 5 strikers it's impossible to change tactic. What nonsense. Ideally if we could make it work yes we could accommodate 2 strikers but if it isn't working we have to change it!
So basically what you are saying is we HAVE to play 4-4-2 all season because we got 5 strikers and if we aren't getting the results we need then still play 4-4-2.
We will be mid table with 4-4-2 but hey at least we are keeping our strikers happy!
What a ridiculous statement.

Marshall
Brayford Morrison Manga Fabio
Adeyemi Dikagcoi
Noone Daehli Whittingham
Jones
Job Done
Whittingham can be swapped in for Burgerstaller or Kim
Jones can be swapped with Macheda or Guerra

If we played this system we couldn't accommodate Noone & Pilkington which I can't see Ole doing.
