Why Cardiff City’s squad is the strongest in the club’s history

Bruno Manga was a deadline day arrival for Cardiff City.

Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been a rather busy man this summer.

After shipping out a grand total of 18 players (including loans), Solskjaer has brought ten replacements, including deadline day arrivals Danny Gabbidon and Bruno Manga.

Despite losing a plethora of talent, I honestly believe the squad is stronger than the one that got relegated last season.

Up front we’re undoubtedly stronger. Whilst we may have lost our top scorer when Frazier Campbell joined Crystal Palace, we’ve brought in Macheda, Le Fondre and Macheda.

Kenwyne Jones, frankly useless last year, looks like a new signing too. Fans were writing him off over the summer, however, with four goals to his name already, suddenly the main concern was whether we’d be able to keep hold of him.

Kenwyne Jones didn’t have much to celebrate last season, but he’s on fire at the moment.

Out wide we’re stronger too. We may have lost both Craig Bellamy and Tommy Smith, but the former struggled to make an impact last season and the latter made none whatsoever.

Guido Burgstaller and Anthony Pilkington should make far more of an impact, and Mats Moller Daehli will be a lot stronger for having six months of experience of British football under his belt too.

At the back we may have lost one of our best players in the shape of Steven Caulker, however with Sean Morrison, Manga and Gabbidon arriving, we’re at least as strong defensively as we were last season.

The big question – and one which I believe will decide whether we get promoted – hangs over central midfield. Having lost both Gary Medel and Jordon Mutch, we desperately needed reinforcements in that area.

Whether replacements Dikgacoi and Adeyemi can fill their boots remains to be seen.

Regardless of Dikgacoi and Adeyemi, though, Solskjaer has the squad to win this league. Fans should be patient, of course, it’s a new squad and will take time to gel.

But with the squad we have, anything other than promotion this season will be a failure.

I would agree. I do hope he keeps a settled team.

Noone will make a massive impact

I distinctly remember you saying this about DJ. Thinly-veiled "I don't like this manager and want him gone as soon as we're out of the top 6"

Dont know if Ole is up for the Job.
Has an attacking team yet spends too much time defending.

time will tell but I think he is still learning.

On what basis do we have the strongest squad in the division? Why is it better than Norwich, Forest, derby or Watford?

Sure everything less than promotion would be a failure and a huge disappointment. The manager and the players would agree to that.
