Time to support Solskjaer and the team

Simon Rowland urges Cardiff City fans to pack the stadium out and make themselves heard

BY SIMON ROWLAND

Cardiff City now have a squad capable of competing at the very top of the Championship but Simon Richards says the fans need to back them all the way to the Premier League.

We’re now five games into the Championship season and things are turbulent at the Cardiff City Stadium.

That’s not to say things couldn’t be worse. The Bluebirds have slipped a little from their last Championship season after a poor performance only garnered a draw against fellow Premier League failures Fulham on Saturday (which gave the cottagers their first point on the board this season).

Even though we've spent big, it’s not looking like we’ll have the same kind of season we had two years ago, up in first and sticking there after game 18 looks a lofty ambition from our current standing. So what can we do to up our game?

I made my feelings clear on the fan support a couple of weeks ago. We need to get behind the team more, make more noise at games, especially when we’re at home.

It’s critical that the support for the team should be constant, even if the results aren’t always there. I know there are a large contingent who are willing to do this, but there are a lot of us who it seems are willing to give up unless we’re beating every team and up at the top of the league (and even then would probably find something to moan about.

A quick heads up for you if you fall into that category. It’s not going to be that kind of season.

We aren’t going to be the team this year who lord it over all competition and remain top of the table for weeks on end. So instead, it’s important to make the Cardiff City Stadium our fortress.

Let the visiting teams be hit by a wall of noise, forever chanting, forever singing. Let them know, that when they come to our country, to our city, they will not have an easy time making themselves heard!

Even when we’re losing, damp, and sat in red seats we can make noise, and support the boys on the pitch, letting them know that we’re behind them with every step, every pass.

It’s Ole’s job to manage them, they have plenty of trainers to go through their skill set, and they have us fans to keep their morale up when all seems lost.

I know it’s not only us that are a possible problem here, a lot of people are criticising the constant changes made by Solskjaer in the guise of keeping the players fresh. With the Championship season holding eight extra games in comparison with the Premier League, the turn around time between matches is obviously going to be shorter and the players will need time to keep themselves from falling apart.

Bluebirds fans aint "top of the table" as a unit atm. Would say we're 14th or so. Why do we expect more from our team than from ourself? Let us strive to the top of the table as fans, and give our lads some amazing support this season!
