O/T Part-Worn Tyres

3 of my car's tyres have gone bald and I've got an MOT due in October, I can get brand new tyres at £35 each in loads of places but that would come to too much money with the MOT as well. Does anyone buy part worn tyres and how long do they usually last? Is it worth taking the risk?

I buy from my mates place in Llanharan dds tyres 20 pound each for good ones and they are like new
