Not exactly a great choice, Fulham slightly over Leeds.

I wouldn't blame Hudson if he wanted to leave.
Ole's been a complete tool.

Sunday 31st August 2014

Fulham have made moves to sign Mark Hudson and Matt Smith from Championshp rivals Cardiff and Leeds.

Manager Felix Magath is keen to strengthen his squad before the close of the transfer window after a disastrous start to life in the second tier.
The Cottagers find themselves second from bottom on just one point after drawing 1-1 with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men on Saturday, having lost their opening four fixtures.

Hudson played no part in the Bluebirds' draw at Craven Cottage and Magath is hopeful of adding the experienced central defender to his ranks.
The German also wants to bring giant striker Smith to west London from Leeds as he looks reunite the 25-year-old with Ross McCormack, who left Elland Road for £11million earlier this summer.
Smith was an unused substitute as United beat Bolton 1-0 at home on Saturday afternoon.

Hudson isn't our top 1 or 2 CB at the moment (before Bruno comes in or Turner comes back) so I cant see how Ole is to blame. Though you are probably right that MT isn't happy atm.

Swap Hudson for Scott Parker.

So why did Ole make him captain?

Very good point. Unless (1) it's a sort of club captain role (2) It's part of his contract (3) Ole thought he'd be better than he's turned out to be this season.

To honor him, and in my opinion, well deserved.

Hmm not sure mate. Seems a strange one as the intention always seemed to get rid. Nevertheless a good captain and proved a lot of doubters wrong a couple of seasons back. Possibly past it now though but wish him well. Seemed a great guy to have at the club.

Honor him... That's the job of the Queen.

I'd say because he was our best player behind Marshall when we got promoted from this division and maybe because of his captaincy skills
Our captain who ever he maybe should be playing every game.

Not many of the "old players" are suitable for being a captain, remember, and Marshall is therefore used as a second best solution, but with limited abilities to lead the players (as most of them will be on the other side of the pitch half the time). It could very well be that one of the new signings (e.g. Morrison) will be handed the task afterwards, when he has been here long enough to getting to know the other players in the squad. Meanwhile, I don´t see a problem in using Hudson as a temporary solution.

And to honor players who through the years have always been loyal and done their best for the team, is a job for the club, not for the queen.

Annis, for me Hudson had one good Season, where of course he took us to the title.

However, he is very injury prone, and will quite often make at least one mistake per game.

I will personally never forget his game in vs Blackpool in the play off final, where he came in for Gerrard(who was playing well at the time) and crumbled at the occasion, one of the worst defensive performances I've ever seen.

Comes across as a nice fella, so good luck to him. But, I'd happily see him move on. :ayatollah:

It's poor management , which ever way you dress it up.

Our biggest spends this summer have been on two CBs. Obviously Ole intends Morrison - Manga to be his main partnership.

Anyone behind the main two is likely to play a lot less. Given Connolly's resurgence, anyone behind him Huson-Cala-Gabbs-Turner is going to play even less. Hardly at all most likely.

So if we can pay Gabbs a lot less than Hudson/Cala in wages and get another coach as part of the deal, then obviously it makes sense from a financial point of view.

Huds and Cala are both probably mad keen to play football as well and I would imagine want to move. We can't offer them first team football. Gabbs, given his age and injury proneness will be much happier with a bit part role.

I see it less as Ole "made" him Captain and more along the lines that Ole "kept" him Captain. Hudson was Club Captain for the past 3-4 years. I think it would make sense to keep Hudson in that role even if it was likely that he might leave the club. No point causing potential ructions in the dressing room by dumping Hudson as Club Captain as if he was to stay it could cause conflicts within the sheds. I see it as pretty good man management if I am honest.
