shape and system

Sun Aug 31, 2014 8:21 am

I watched all 5 games i am still trying to work out how oly is setting us up we got no width we cant string more than 5 passes together.3 passes and then long ball ,we got one of the best squads in this division but oly as made a lot of our players look awful in the system he as got them playing.
Brilliant day in fulham yesterday apart for the game ,once again Jez excellent trip :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

What exactly is your point
Is it the system thats wrong (yesterday 4 4 2 )
Or isit the players arent good enough (or both) :bluescarf:

If we are going to play 4 4 2 lets use our midfield and get a foothole in the game instead long balls and giving the ball back to the other team

Well our creative midfielder (whitts ) as usual lately gave more passes sideways or backwards than forewards
Our back 4 played more football than the midfield but were put under pressure and had no outlet
For me away from home we must play 2 holding central mid fielders and 2 wide quick wingers and defend further up the field
Sorry to sound like a broken record but whitts is the problem he shits himself when on the ball cant get rid of it quick enough gives us nothing in defence and when on occasions he helps out he f...ks up just like yesterday just outside our box his touch was shit and gave the ball away to them in our box his days are defo numbered and his ability is in decline (thanks for the past )but you are the weakest link good bye :bluescarf: :ole:

I agree that whitts is def the weak link! Loyal servant and so on but even his set pieces are not great at the moment! To me he's like a rabbit in the headlights whenever he gets the ball! Countless times yesterday he hacked it awa to no where, even ran towards his own goal with the ball and lost it! A better finish and they were 2 up! There's no question he doesn't have talent but he doesn't work in a 4-4-2 which we've now seen for yrs! He can't track back, doesn't make a tackle a and doesn't do enough work! He really does need to be dropped as for me he does not offer enough to guaranteed himself a starting place week in week out!
Noone comin back will be huge but not sure how quick he will make an impact and he's been out a while, but this will offer us the width and pace we are craving!
Kenwyn should be used as an impact player in my opinion an id like to see us start with macheda and guerra! Macheda showed some nice control on the ball, an some neat passin and hunger for the ball!
I wouldn't bother signing a centre half I would
Look to see I we can get a quality central midfielder!

This is where the players spent most of their time yesterday:

Pilktington and Daehli too narrow and Dik and Whitts playing the same position. We've no central midfielder to drive us forward and a severe lack of pace. Sorry to say it but look at Swansea yesterday (what I saw on MOTD), Ki picked the ball up and immediately drove forward, two extremely quick wingers in Dyer and Routledge. We've lost Mutch (drive) and only have Noone. Hopefully when Noone returns he will cause problems and then provide Daehli with more space. Daehli need to move the ball quicker and not wait until he has two or three players on him.

Totally agree. We lost Mutch and that was our drive forward from midfield. We don't have this anymore.. We signed adeyemi and he's looked very energetic yet ole chose not to use him.
