It would appear that we are a long ball team, and whilst I am not usually one for negativity, it is impossible for any sort of atmosphere to be generated watching Ole's style. The team don't appear to get what it is they are supposed to be doing, and watching it is painful. Listening on the radio is even worse! It really is depressing. We need a player who can get hold of the game and dictate it, and Ole has to settle on a side and let them play football, hoofball is not suiting us at all. That's my opinion of at all anyway.

I believe Ole knows exactly what he is aiming for. But it will always be down to the players to execute the game plan. In the first half they failed to do that today against an impressive Fulham side that had Scott Parker and Chris David in midfield - two players worthy of the Premier League.

A lot of success for us rides on the central midfielders successfully distributing out wide and quickly. Our full backs are poised to over lap (acting as wingers) every time we are in possession. When we pull this off our wingers often drop inside while the centre mids who are closer to the flank in possession are ready to drop into full back in case we lose the ball.

Dikgacoi's seemed to be higher up the pitch than Whitts a lot today. This makes sense (in theory). DG's job is to win the ball back. The higher up the pitch he does so, the less distance we have to cover on the break in creating a chance at their goal. It didn't work today. Whitt's distribution and choice making was not great in my opinion. Also in the first have, Fulham were good without the ball and played narrow and packed the midfield, cutting of the angles. Whitts too often looked for Kenwynne with 40, 50, 60 balls. I cannot remember him picking out Pilkington, who in turn had a quiet game as a result.

Another weakness of us today was that we defended very deep (leaving a lot of space to run at in midfield.) I think this was intentional from Ole - the reason for this is Fulham had a lot of pace up front, so in terms of pace we are only as good as our weakest link in our back four - Connelly. Don't get me wrong, he is having an excellent season and was good today. But he would get done for pace if we set up too high up the pitch. But because our defensive line is deep, it means if one of our defenders wins the ball back, the the likelihood is there is a big distance for us to work the ball toward their goal.

Central midfield is where the problems are for me. KG was excellent against Port Vale. I would like to see him start with Ralls in the next game. Ralls might just have what it takes to complete the jigsaw for us this season.

I think you got that all wrong. Not much hoofing today.

Depends what you call hoof ball and not working
Our goal against fulham came from whittinham hiting a high ball upto jones who headed it down to deilhi who then returned it to jones who put it in the net
Was whitts original ball a hoof and did it work??? :bluescarf: :ole:

Long diagonal ball from the half way line, hoof ball may have a bit ott but; we use the this a lot, and we do lump it forward a fair bit. We need a strong midfielder to get hd of it and dictate, this for me is our main weakness.
