Cardiff City eager for '£8m' Craig Noone return after injury

Getting Craig Noone back on the pitch will be like "signing a £7-8m player", according to Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 26-year-old winger has missed the start of the season with a recurrence of a groin injury.
Noone has resumed training and although he is unlikely to figure in Saturday's Championship trip to Fulham, he should be back after the international break.
"We really missed him the last two months of last season," Solskjaer said.
“It's not about keeping the players happy, it's about keeping them on their toes and ready to perform”

"He was outstanding for me when he played, makes an impact, goes inside, outside, puts crosses in and can score goals.
"It's like signing a £7-8m player for me, because he will in this league, create so many chances and score goals."
Noone underwent surgery to cure his problem and if there is no reaction in training, the former Brighton player could be available for the 13 September game against Norwich City.
"He looks strong, all the scans and tests have been really positive and mentally Craig is really positive now too," Solskjaer said.
"He feels very confident that the surgery has sorted it."
The transfer window closes on at the end of Monday, 1 September and Solskjaer indicated that Cardiff have done their business for the moment.
"If I have the squad I've got now we're in good shape," added the Norwegian.
"I was asked how to keep everyone happy; it's not about keeping them happy, it's about keeping them on their toes and ready to perform.
"Of course it helps if they're happy but as long as they're in a good vein of form and I don't lose anyone, then I wouldn't be worried bout that."

This just goes to show just how far the squad has developed recently. How many other clubs in our league can boast an £8m player in this position?

The fact that OGS feels he has no more business to undertake this window says it all. What a squad!

Just letting the premier league teams know Nooney's price tag if they want to come in for him before deadline day. :ayatollah:

Think Craig Noone could be the final piece of the jigsaw .

I love our squad, its the best ive ever seen a City side. However its important we remain balanced, realistic and with both feet firmly in the ground. Does anyone really think that if on the open market, Craig Noone would attract a bid of anywhere near £8m? Im disappointed with Ole here, he should be underplaying our squad and focusing on the hard work ahead not putting out soundbites like this as it sends out the wrong message. With a supposed £8m player coming back on top of the squad we already have, then surely the fans expectation levels will be through the roof when up against such like as Rotherham and Brentford. I feel expectations should be managed and not sent into overdrive.

Have to dissagree with this sorry, looks like a good bit of man management to me. Noone hasn't played for a long while but if i was him hearing these words from Ole. i would be absolutley bouncing to come back into the side, knowing this is what the manager thinks of me. He is a big confidence player who's (lets be honest) only stregnths are going forward. The fact Zabaletta said he gave him the toughest game for a long while when we played them at the Etihad shows, when confident, he is a top class out and out winger. I struggle to see why you think Ole is sending out the wrong signal to him here to be honest?

I didnt say he was sending out the wrong signal to noone, as you say thats man management and its always nice to tell a player how much you like him and as a result im sure Craig will be chuffed.....

What Oles other job is however, is expectation level management. So wouldn't this be better to tell Nooney personally instead of telling the world? With him stating there are £8m players not even in the side surely winning the league is the expectation now? With such a squad anything less would be an underachievement. Riling up the fans into this level of expectancy (which in my opinion is overly exaggerated as noone is never an £8m player) is a very dangerous game indeed.

Malky valuation that.

If anyone bid 5 million for noone I would snap their hand off.

Noone will probably be player of the season if he can stay fit. Not sure why malky went off him so much but he has shown he is a class act.

If he can stay fit? That's the problem.
