OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER " IF THEY PLAY WELL ENOUGH,THEY GET PICKED "

Wednesday 27th August 2014

Having made expected personnel changes, Ole Gunnar Solskjær was delighted with the display from his squad on Tuesday night as Cardiff City confirmed their place in the Capital One Cup third round draw at Port Vale.

"They’ve given me food for thought and I was very pleased with what I saw,” he said of his players. “The passing and movement the boys showed is the way I like to play football. Some of the youngsters were fantastic.

“I was really pleased with the whole performance. We’re delighted to be through to the next round and I hope we get a good draw. I did want Manchester United, but I can’t any more. It doesn’t matter though really; these boys of mine need challenges.”

The headlines of course were set for Bluebirds debutant Federico Machada, who bagged a brace and came close to a hat-trick at Vale Park. For Ole though, the goals were far from a surprise.

"I've always known Federico is a natural goalscorer since I was with him at Manchester United,” he said. “He practises his finishing every day in training and I have no doubts about him. His first goal was a poacher goal and I would have put my mortgage on him scoring the second when he was one-on-one with the keeper.

"He's right in my thoughts now for Saturday. He will certainly play some part, whether that be starting or from the bench. A lot of the other lads out there are also knocking on the door; maybe not for Saturday, but certainly after the international break.

"I've got a lot of players, but it's not a case of trying to keep all of them happy. It's not a social club, we are a professional football club. If they play well enough they get noticed and get picked."

A few days ago he was saying how it's about trying to keep everyone happy. Seems like he's changed his tune somewhat.

personally, i think he's fixated upon rotation.

this is just my view, but i think our squad is bloated. it may just be public persona, but i think he's concerned about keeping everyone on his side. i doubt we will see an unchanged XI for some time.

that could be a good thing, or a bad thing. as always in football, it is dependent upon results as to whether he has followed the right strategy.

So Ralls, Macheda and Guerra should be in contention.

I wish Ole's statement were true, but I have my doubts!

Ole gunner solsjkaer is Michael Scott from the office, he doesn't need to be loved, he doesn't want to be loved, he had to be loved. He seems like someone who wants everyone to be happy even if that means dropping in form players for someone who had missed a game or 2
