The Foxes have been granted permission to speak with the player after seeing an improved offer of £7 million accepted for the 26-year-old midfielder

EXCLUSIVE
By Graeme Bailey

Wigan midfielder James McArthur has been given permission to speak to Leicester after the two clubs agreed a fee for his transfer, Goal can reveal.

Latics chairman Dave Whelan admitted yesterday that the Scotland international could be sold for the right price after an opening offer from the Foxes was rejected.

And the Championship club have now accepted an improved bid of £7 million - £6m of which will be paid up front - to pave the way for McArthur to complete a return to the top flight before Monday's transfer deadline.

McArthur has made over 150 appearances in all competitions for Wigan since signing from Hamilton for around £500,000 in 2010.

Manager Nigel Pearson is keen to bolster his midfield options, with former Inter star Esteban Cambiasso a long-term target.
“Cambiasso is still a possibility,” Pearson revealed at the weekend. “There’s been some progress over the weekend so I’m more hopeful than I was on Friday and Saturday.”

The newly promoted side have collected one point out of a possible six in difficult opening fixtures against Everton and Chelsea.

Newly promoted Leicester City are bracing themselves for a barrage of Premier League offers for their Welsh international, Andy King, reports Sky Sports. The midfielder is a crucial player in Nigel Pearson’s squad, but that hasn’t prevented interest coming in from Sunderland, Queens Park Rangers and West Brom.

King has been at Leicester for the whole of his professional career, and the 25 year old is now a very important player at the club. With 54 goals in 278 appearances in all competitions, King has achieved status as the highest-scoring midfielder in the club’s history, and has earned himself a very good reputation within the King Power Stadium terraces.

Valued at around £2.5 million though, the player has just 12 months left to run on his current Leicester contract. He has become a desirable and affordable player for a trio of top flight clubs as Sunderland, QPR and West Brom are all looking to strengthen their midfield presence before the transfer window closes.

King has played the full 90 minutes in both of Leicester’s Premier League games so far this season, and he is expected to continue to feature heavily during the entire campaign. Should King leave the club then it will likely be an almost unforeseen move, and a disappointing one as well. Having worked hard with the Foxes to earn promotion back to the big time, he is a player who is highly valued at the club, and somebody that they want to keep hold of.

15:08 - Leicester City
Leicester City are tracking Cardiff City right-back Declan John and saw the teenager impress against Port Vale last night.
John created Cardiff's second goal against the League One club with a surging run and cross for Federico Macheda and was generally impressive - as he was on his only other start of the season for the Bluebirds against Coventry in the previous round of the Capital One Cup.
The 19-year-old broke into the Cardiff City team last season and earned two caps for Wales, but has been left out of Chris Coleman's latest squad for the clash with Andorra.
Manchester United have also been keeping an eye on John, who is under contract until 2018, and saw his impressive display against Coventry earlier in August.
