Nearly went this year. Couldn't find anything to fit my time off though so I went to Malta instead. Looks lovely.

Went back in the early 90's Adam and stayed in a place called Villasimius which had a really stunning beach. It was quite a busy resort and was very very expensive so take lots of money with you.
Beside the stunning beach there were lots of really good restaurants, again all very expensive, but you have to try the ice cream mate it's orgasmic - Trust me.
You may have to take out a mortgage to buy one or you could always make them an offer they couldn't refuse.

Done Sicily so time to do Sardinia now, the North West we are going but probably get a car to go around the island

Been twice to the north, the Smeralda coast though we stayed 15 mins inland.
Gorgeous place - I like anything italian and this has it in spades.
We flew into Olbia from Bristol hired a car and self catered.
