Back four shouldn't change unless injuries

Sun Aug 24, 2014 10:04 am

With the back four it's all about positioning, getting used to each other. The back four should remain the same unless form or injury dictates a change. I can understand tinkering of the midfield and attack possibly for freshness or to keep the opposition on their toes but the back four should remain the same especially after a clean sheet and good defensive performance.

100% agree. Connolly has been outstanding at Centre Back, Brayford & Fabio very good and Morrison MOM against Wigan, so why change? Sometimes you can look at the opposition too much and what was Ole thinking against Wolves. Connolly is a couple of inches taller than Brayford so I will play him to combat the aerial threat?

Not only that but you then drop the man who us your top scorer, who can hold the ball up, who offers a physical presence up top and won everything in the air! You can also take him off after 75/80 mins if he cannot last.

It did not make sense and now he is trying to justify it.

I knew ole had picked 3 centrebacks because of wolves ariel threat and then ole came out and said it. It was fully justified. People going on about this tinkering is silly. We beat Huddersfield and he changed the team for Wigan. We won again, no one said a word. He changed the defence for the Wigan game and we got a clean sheet. ...anybody pointed that out? Was that we'll done to ole? No well slate him when we think he's wrong but not praise him when he's right.

Good point made. As fans were always going to agree, disagree with a team selection that's the nature of a fan. Oles forgotten more about football than I will ever know but if he looked back to his playing days he was part of a rotation process amongst the strikers but the midfield and especially defence very rarely changed. If the changes he makes come off he should be applauded for it and the games do come thick and fast and the use of a large squad could be crucial but sometimes his changes are odd to say the least.
