Gunnar, son of Ole Gunnar

Sat Aug 23, 2014 9:29 pm

Gunnar is the midfielder with most minutes on the pitch this season.

Massive critic of his and was so bad against Blackburn but cleaned us up vs Huddersfield. Wigan he wasn't too bad.

Still want to see a midfield pairing of Adeyemi and KG

Can't say that i think he has had a game where he justified being in the XI repeatedly..
OGS favouritism for Gunnar is downright bizarre. He even plays him advanced in the diamond or out wide.
We had 30% possession and don't look to create anything. Obviously we need a different type of player.

Even Malky eventually dropped his lad, Don.

Without his long throws there is no reason to start him.

At last someone who is old enough to see he's now way down the pecking order - or should be! :old:

Thought Adeyemi was worse than Gunnarson yesterday. He gives away so many needless fouls and the quality on his passes is terrible

I'm a bit shocked by this.

In his first start for us people were raving about him - so what's the early verdict for those that have seen him?

Perhaps 3 games in a week caught up with him yesterday

But, if was was benched there would have been uproar on here.....

Not sure why gunnarson is so important to ole..... I thought Eikrem was meant to be the one to articulate Ole's style on the pitch

Well even tuesdays MOTM Fabio was kinda crap yesterday, almost everyone was
Kind of agree on Adeyemis passing but he has pace and energy isn't afraid to get stuck in.
Gunnar is slow as a snail, doesnt tackle and not comfortable on the ball.He is a squad player, he shouldn't be in the starting XI every single time.

Fabio was terrible first half yesterday.

Agree that Gunnarson shouldn't be starting. Adeyemi is and will be a big player for us, but the quality of his passing needs to be improved.

His pass percentage is probably quite high, but yesterday it seemed a little loose and stopped people taking the ball in their stride. Either that or it was over hit meaning someone had to take an extra touch.

He does have great energy though and I think once he's settled in we will see more of the driving runs which he did for Birmingham.

Dikghachoi next to him and we will have a solid base to start from.

Thought Fabio struggled because he was doubled up on, hardly and help from Whitts and no runners were tracked who looked to get behind Fabio

Gunnar no 10 again…. I rest my case.

I would not have Gunnar anywhere near the team. He was very poor last season in the Premiership and although we are back in the Championship he does not justify a place with out strong squad.

He has a habit of giving away silly needless free kicks and he loses possession quite often. Not to mention his close encounters on the opposition goalkeepers which cost us a few goals last season.

Like most managers Ole seems to have his favourites. I cannot understand how Maynard has had so much playing time and Guerra has been ignored.

Adiyemi is a terrible imo, had an ok 1st game but since then he has been shit tbh.

I'd go along with that but with one exception. I'd certainly play Connolly ahead of Cala ATM. Connolly has been one of our best players this season.

Surely Whittingham has had more minutes than Gunnar? He's played every game this season

I thought about that too. Then I re watched the Norwich game and he was caught out far too many times, slow to react after Marshall had made the saves then they put the rebound in. Was also caught the wrong side of his attacker. Cala has also made mistakes. But he looked quite good at times last yr with a decent partner, with manga being the tough tackler, Cala could be the player at the back?. Clutching at straws perhaps, but we invited Norwich to 25 shots on our goal!

This is a solid team. Connolly or Cala, think actually Cala would suit Manga better than Connolly. Finally Guerra at start, I'd like that, pure class. :thumbright:

Guerra's record in la liga suggests he is the best finisher in the squad, for god sakes Ole bloody play the best players in their most natural positions
