Stand Out Players To Date

It's only 3 games into the new season but I have been pleasantly surprised by 'fringe players' stepping up to the mark in these games.

Connolly - been outstanding in defence even though he did not get a look in last season apart from the first week or so.

Brayford - Did not get a look in at all last season and was shipped out on loan.

Fabio - Took a lot of stick after his move from Man Utd

Jones - even up until the start of the season was slated by many 'fans'.

Hudson has also shown up well and he again he did not feature last season.

All have really shone consistently in the games so far and that all goes well with the more established players and the new faces coming in. There is competition in each position and therefore when players get the chance they want to grasp it.

Well done to those players and onwards and upwards.

Overall Connolly has been the best in the opening games for us

Most improved player for me is Fabio.

He was great in the champ 2 years ago Conners, after 20 mins in the Wolfsburg game he started commanding headers and impressed, bad start thou

I'm very pleased with Brayford.

I have been very suprised by how well out defence has done. Brayford, Connolly and Fabio have been excellent. Morrison did well Tuesday.

The fullbacks have been the difference this year. Brayford was outstanding against Huddersfield. Fabio was a 10 against Wigan.

We need our midfield to gel now. I was impressed by what little I saw of Pilkington the other night.

I was happy when we signed fabio,he had a lot of stick because he didn't play much for man utd,he just ended up behind his brother who took his chance and then it was always hard for him to break into the team,he has some good touches and is very quick.

Its his pace that makes the difference as he can quickly recover from being caught out of position. Excellent against Wigan. The 2 fullbacks are making the difference to our defence.

The 2 full backs have been a real pleasure to watch, such a long time since we have had stability on both sides of the pitch.

Connolly looks like a player who is determined to keep the shirt and that's a huge positive.

The defence in general are the stand out for me, all of them. Some respect is due OGS for sorting defence out. Particularly the full backs have really caught on to his philosophy as its been explained to me. He likes to play with fast full backs bombing up and down the field.

Now if he can get midfield to play as unit then we are on to something really good .

Fabio and Brayford stand out for me, by a distance followed by Jones and Connolly.

I agree with all those and I have had to eat some humble pie regarding Jones. He really seems to be putting in a shift so far. What excites me most is that I watched some pre season games and we have some great talent in Guerra and Micheda yet to come into the side.

I would add Mats Daehli to that list.
He has varied in his performances, but on his day unplayable. Plus our biggest talent.
