Vienna Holiday

Family fancies a city break over October half term to Vienna, anyone been/any recommendations of hotels or places to go/things to see if you have gone?

When I was young and hardy I went inter railing around Europe and spent 3 days in Vienna. I loved it! It is full of historical things and is great to visit. I recommend the Schonbrun Palace, the Spanish Riding school and a visit to the Prater, which (if it is still there!) is an old style amusement park with a large Ferris Wheel which was featured in the film "The Third Man"

It also has an excellent public transport system of trams and u-Bahn.

Lovely city but take a pile of cash because it ain't cheap over there...
