£30 to watch City last night!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wed Aug 20, 2014 2:51 pm

That is what my Son and his mate had to pay for a ticket last night which I think is scandalous and does nothing to encourage a healthy walk up crowd. Before anyone says should have got a season ticket my Son manages a pub and can only rarely get time off on Saturdays so can only make mid week games. :(

Although I have a season Ticket i think £30 is taking the piss for Championship football and don't get me started on the price of a pint in the Stadium :o

City have made a big mistake on their prices for Championship football.

But because of them increasing prices on season tickets, they will find it hard to reduce prices.

They know themselves they've shot themselves in the foot.

I had that feeling too, it's just wrong the amount of money they want for us to support the team. How about the club supporting the locals who can't afford to take the kids on those prices!!

Edit: didn't even bother attempting to buy a pint, as I knew what's coming and I love beer hahaha

£10 a point (not pint! LOL) wasn't so bad, as Wigan fans (thankfully) went home with nothing for their expensive night! LOL

In all seriousness, the prices are out there publicly and we all knew season tickets were the way to go (at Ambassador or non-Ambassador prices)

It is only right and proper that the season ticket holders get the best deals for their loyalty and commitment, whilst people making a late decision to "walk up" and pay on the gate (although welcome) know the score on prices and their non-committal attitude towards the club

And before anyone starts having a 'pop' by saying there are "reasons" they didn't purchase or renew their season ticket this year, I am a shift worker myself and (coupled with sad family issues) games I am likely to miss far outweigh the financial value of my season ticket!

BUT, it's MY seat in the stadium and I am happy to support the club by showing my commitment before the season starts, regardless of game I can attend and regardless of what division we play in! ;)

I think this contributes to the poor atmosphere in the ground. Football in general is pricing a lot of hard working people out of the game. A lot of people have to work almost a full day to earn this sort of money, and by the time rent, food, etc has been paid for, there is not much left over for entertainment. They have to pick and choose which games they are going to attend. Afraid football is no longer for the average working class man.

You cant pay a price and then complain about it. I presume from the message your son did pay the £30? Not a slight on him at all but collectively, as they do on the continent, we could make a stand to bring about change but so long as there are people paying these prices you're just going to have to suck it up. Same with the red. It could all stop overnight if everyone showed some back bone (mass walkout, mass boycott whatever) unfortunately those north of Taffs Well just loves a day out butt and cant resist.

Yes you are right him and his mate did reluctantly pay the price but I fear that for many the price is too high and they are voting with their feet hence I fear the crowds are going to be well down this season :(

Didn't mind paying it to be honest what hurt me the most was paying £4 for a hot dog! I could of slapped the bird in the face when she said that price

I Paid £30 for myself and £24 for my 17 year old last night plus £70 in petrol and £10 for a bit of grub.

which i knew the cost before i set out.....

...i was thinking about the cost today and thought, the people who put the prices together look at other entertainment and think well it costs that to go to a gig or a show.....but Championship football is twice a week and i dont think they look at the bigger picture.

we will pick our games very carefully this season.

saying that i thoroughly enjoyed last night.....and it was Comedy Gold watching Dai Hunt badgering Carl and Annis.

what is the difference between ambassador and non-ambassador prices? or is this the price freeze?

also couldn't believe the 40p increase in the price of a pint!

Buy before hand and there won't be complaints about the prices.
Dynamic pricing works both ways sometimes

I paid £520 for my season ticket, which is quite steep for championship football but rather than give refunds, why not give a discount off next years season ticket, to those of us who have paid full price. This would allow the club to reduce matchday tickets now, everyone's a winner then

Took both my children to every home game in the days of Junior Bluebirds. It wasn't a particularly expensive couple of hours out, although I should mention we were always in the bottom two divisions then. Would have liked to have introduced my grandchildren to Cardiff City, but could never afford the prices now for myself and three children. I imagine there are plenty of others out there in the same situation as I am. Unfortunately, son-in-law is a fan of rugby, and I think they will end up watching the wrong shaped ball. Three potential fans of the future probably lost to the club forever.

2 adults and 2 kids for £40 for any game! Can't see how anyone can complain at that. Take 3 kids with you and one of them can have an adult ticket.

Something should have, and needs to be done about it to be addressed somehow. I agree ST shouldnt lose out, but at the same time averaging 20k again is shit.

They know I attend every game and would want to do the same. Think this would work out at £920 if I took them to all the home games which I did with my children. Add on a bit of food and a couple of programmes and you would easily get to a £1000 for just one season. Way too much in my opinion, football has changed completely due to players' wages etc., I don't think hardly anyone couldn't afford to go on a Saturday afternoon in my younger days. A lot of people used to work Saturday mornings, and head down to Ninian Park after work. I think the cost then would be the equivalent to around £5 now, which is probably why 25000 plus gates were quite normal then, and sometimes attendances would exceed 30,000.

One season ticket for 100 years would amount to roughly two players wages for ONE week earning around 25,000 a week. I think the club make a few mill each year on tickets but imagine how much they spend on wages. Puts it into perspective for me we are just customers now getting needlessly milked.

It is expensive, they should consider a reduction for season ticket holders and walk up fans next season and try and fill the ground and create a better atmosphere......

The club don't care about walk up crowds which is why it costs so much on the day.

Its a case of, if your willing to pay it we'll take your money but we'd rather you buy ST's. Or buy tickets early so we can budget for stewards, staff and food.

Yes, mate. Some are in their final "freeze" season, whilst others had a big increase for this season

Next year all will be equal across the board ;)
