Barack Obama may have ruled out sending "boots on the ground" back to Iraq but in the face of a growing threat from the Islamic State (IS), the Pentagon appears to have hit upon a way to get them back in by the back door.
The US Army's Contracting Command has issued a tender notice for companies capable of deploying security assistance mentors and advisers in Iraq.
These individuals would be required for a 12-month contract, potentially extendable to a total of 36 months.
They are needed as consultants to the US "Office of Security Assistance in Iraq" and must be "cognisant of the goals of ... reducing tensions between Arabs and Kurds, and Sunnis and Shias".
Some 40,000 private security contractors formed a disparate mercenary army of mostly westerners during the American-led occupation of Iraq.

Spoke to my mate on here who took you to Palace last season. He says your nuts enough to do it as well.
I met a few nuts like you while in the military a few years back who went down this line. Mercenary/private contractors equals plausible deniability.

Nuts? I had a great time at Palace (bar the result) and met so many like minded fans. We all got on like a house on fire![]()
Thanks to all the replies but I didn't get a reply and I even ventured down to the Army career office and volunteered my services but they said I'm to old but they like sending 16 - 17 year olds of to war and seeing them come back in body bags.

Being decapitated had crossed my mind but not really an issue unlike the journalists who get captured and think they'll be released. Look at the face of the British journalist in the latest video, pure terror on his face as he knows whats coming.
If I was out there then they wouldn't take me alive, If I was surrounded then I'd kill as many as I could and save the last bullet in my 9mm for myself as I wouldn't give the cowards the satisfaction of humiliating me and then decapitating me on video.

Very true. I'd fight so much they'd have to shoot me. Wouldn't get me in a position to parade me on video, then cut my head off, I'd fight them all the way. You know what's coming so you might aswel make it quick for yourself, and not put your family through months of torment before they finally execute you and release a video of it

Come on guys you cannot say the last bullet is for yourself unless you are in the situation.
The human spirit has this survival thing going for it. I bet Foley did not believe it was going to happen until it did.
