Ole Looking For Back To Back Wins
Tuesday 19th August 2014
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and new signing Sean Morrison have both looked ahead to tomorrow's game against Wigan Athletic and the aim is successive victories.
Speaking to the Official Site Ole said that we go into the game in good confidence and a strong belief we can win, but we certainly won't underestimate the threat they can pose.
'It's important to pick up points in every game we play, but we are aware that Tuesday's game with Wigan will be a different test to what we've faced in our opening two Championship games. Tactically, Wigan will be different to Blackburn and Huddersfield, so there will be re-adjustments in that respect.'
Ole goes on to say that having faced them in the FA Cup last season and with the result not going our way, clearly we know they are a good side and Uwe Rosler is a good friend of his so he knows he'll have the team up for the game, but equally he knows we'll be ready as well.
The gaffer went on to confirm that Craig Noone and Ben Turner remain ruled out for the game, but we do now have Anthony Pilkington and Sean Morrison available, and they have been joined by Federico Macheda, Kagisho Dikgacoi and Javi Guerra who all seem to have overcome the injuries they picked up.
Defender Morrison actually played against Wigan on the opening day of this season for his former club Reading, and he's said that maybe he can bring a bit of insight for us having had that experience.
'Hopefully the bits I picked up from that one can help, ultimately though it'll be about us on the day. The manager will have his own tactics and ideas on how to take the points. Wigan are another very good side and I think they'll be right up there with us this year. It's going to be a tough contest.'

Cardiff City v Wigan: New signings in line to make their Bluebirds debuts as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gets selection headache
New Bluebirds’ signings Sean Morrison and Anthony Pilkington are both in line to make their debuts in Cardiff City’s Championship home clash with Wigan Athletic tonight (7.45pm).
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed both will be in his squad and he will decide today if they will start.
Pilkington, a winger who will play out near the touchline, looks likely to start, while Solskjaer must decide whether to call up Morrison, his £3m signing from Reading at the back even though Matt Connolly and Mark Hudson have been in outstanding form.
“The way we have been defending it’s difficult to leave out either Matt or Mark, but we’ll see who is freshest, who is ready,” said Solskjaer.
“Both Sean and Anthony will be in the squad and I’ll make final decisions on the team at the right time.”
City also have Federico Macheda, Kagisho Dikgacoi and Javi Guerra fit again after injuries for this clash with Wigan, who dumped Cardiff out of the FA Cup last season.
“We don’t like to lose against anybody, but they were better than us then,” said Solskjaer. “I know their manager, Uwe Rosler, really well and we talk regularly. They are a good team and will pose a different test, a different tactical system than either Huddersfield or Blackburn.”
Wigan have been playing a 4-5-1 system and that is likely to mean Pilkington is given the nod to ensure City have width in midfield.
Cardiff are currently third, behind Bournemouth and Millwall after two matches and could go top if either of the top two slip up. Bournemouth are at home against Nottingham Forest this evening, while Millwall travel to Sheffield Wednesday.
Visitors Wigan include former Cardiff players Don Cowie, Andrew Taylor and Leon Barnett, while ex-Latics player Nicky Maynard is hoping for a Cardiff recall.
Meanwhile, Louis van Gaal. Manchester United’s new manager, has left Cardiff City disappointed by deciding to keep Michael Keane in his squad at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer was close to signing Keane on a season-long loan, but van Gaal said the defender would stay with the Premier League side.
But it is thought Bluebirds’ boss Solskjaer may yet add extra defensive cover to his squad before the transfer window closes on September 1.
