Monday 18th Aug 2014.

Crystal Palace have been fined by the Premier League for their conduct before a match against Cardiff City last season.

Cardiff made a complaint to the Premier League following their 3-0 defeat in April, claiming that result should not stand because their starting lineup had been leaked to their opponents.

Crystal Palace hit with fine from Premier League over ‘Spygate’ allegations

The finev is thought to be in the region of £25,000.

Crystal Palace have been fined by the Premier League over an allegation that information regarding the Cardiff line-up prior to the sides’ encounter in Wales last season was leaked to the London side.

The Premier League board upheld a complaint from Cardiff, who alleged that team information was leaked to officials at Palace prior to the match on April 5.

“The Premier League board has considered a complaint from Cardiff City regarding the conduct of a Crystal Palace official,” a statement from the League read.

“The board found that Crystal Palace breached Rule B.16 and has exercised its summary jurisdiction and fined the club.”

Rule B.16 states that “in all matters and transactions relating to the League each club shall behave towards each other club and the league with the utmost good faith”.

it was suggested that former Cardiff sporting director Iain Moody may have used his contacts at the club after joining Palace in order to obtain information that was useful to his current employers.

The Premier League tweeted: "The Premier League Board has considered a complaint from Cardiff City regarding the conduct of a Crystal Palace official. The Board found that Crystal Palace breached Rule B.16 and has exercised its summary jurisdiction and fined the club."

We were well beaten on the day by a better organised ,committed and passionate team of players who basically just wanted it more , regardless of whether they possibly knew our team or not they still played the same 11 that had played previous and future games .

I don't think it would have made a difference to the score so for once the fa have probably got this fine spot on IMO !

Crystal Palace fined by Premier League after 'spygate' complaints by Cardiff City over leaking of team last season

Monday Aug 18, 2014

Palace beat Cardiff 3-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium but could be fined up to £25,000 after the Premier League upheld the Bluebirds' complaint

Cardiff City were beaten by Crystal Palace on April 5th 3nil.

The Premier League have confirmed they have fined Crystal Palace after complaints by Cardiff City that their team was leaked prior to the two sides meeting in April.

The Bluebirds put in a formal complaint to the Premier League, believing that Palace knew their team line-up 24 hours before kick-off for the match at Cardiff City Stadium.

Palace went on to win that game 3-0, former Bluebird Joe Ledley on the score sheet, in a victory which helped send Cardiff back to the Championship.

The Premier League confirmed: “The Premier League Board has considered a complaint from Cardiff City regarding the conduct of a Crystal Palace official.

“The Board found that Crystal Palace breached Rule B.16 and has exercised its summary jurisdiction and fined the club.”

In the Premier League handbook, rule B16 states: "In all matters and transactions relating to the League each Club shall behave towards each other Club and the League with the utmost good faith."

WalesOnline understand Palace could now face a penalty of up to £25,000.

Cardiff City have refused to comment on the decision.

Agreed, I don't think it had much bearing on the result, however Cardiff were justified in making the complaint. I found it very sad at the time that the usual suspects on here were making out once again that the club that they supposedly support were somehow in the wrong, for bringing it to the leagues attention, but hey, the bitterness runs deep, I guess.

£25 grand dont hurt Steve Parish, thats a night out on the town for him. should have been 3 points to make Moody &co realise that its not acceptable behaviour.

oh and it would be nice if the £25.000 went to Ty Hafon. :ayatollah:

Same old Palace always cheating. Gone into administration twice and cheated their local community and the St john ambulance out of thousands of pounds.

If I was Cardiff I'd do what Sheffield United done to West Ham, sue them for millions. Who knows what would have happened if you had beat them? You could of stayed up, but by them cheating then they have gained millions.

:laughing6: Palace are like Swansea City, they have pulled similar stunts in the past.

Taking it further,,,,interesting. I wonder?

At least it is officially acknowledged that they cheated.

I don't agree that it definitely didn't effect the outcome at all. Football games can swing in major ways just on one goal, or substitution, free kick etc. Yes come the end of the game they performed much better, but their desire only overtook ours once they had scored the first goal. No one can say how it would have panned out had they not adapted their tactics to nullify ours.

CPFC having our line up before the game, especially coming up against OGS who always changed the starting 11 in the PL, was a major major advantage.

I also didn't like the way the press reacted to this. Because we were the joke club in the PL it was all laughed off. Just imagine how different this would be if the story was Man City stealing Arsenal/Chelsea/Man U's team sheet???

Never mind the national press, our very own support reacted in the same way, just because their fist pumping messiah, Malky had been sacked and Vincent Tan wouldn't turn us back blue :laughing6:

As usual you are right Leytonstone. Because we are a divided club we don't need outsiders to ridicule and bring us down. We do a better job of it ourselves...

And the Tan Out brigade said we shouldn't investigate this because it was sour grapes.
