Sean Morrison has told striker of the Championship to beware

Monday 18th Aug 2014.

The tough-talking centre half became Ole Gunnar Solksjaer's latest signing when he moved from Reading on Friday.

He watched the Bluebirds dispatch managerless Huddersfield as one of City's unused subs on Saturday.

But Solskjaer could plunge the 23-year-old Devonian into action tomorrow when fellow promotion favourites Wigan arrive in south Wales.

Morrison is itching for his chance and ready to turn ugly if required to do so.

"I am a commanding centre half who loves an aerial battle," said Morrison.

"I love my one on one duels and I certainly don't shy away from the ugly stuff.

"But I like to play football as well. That's how Nigel Adkins wanted to play at Reading and I think it will be the same here."

If Morrison does get the nod tomorrow, he will come up against Wigan for the second time this season after facing them for the Royals at the DW Stadium on the opening day.

"I played for Reading in the first game of the season, so maybe it gives me a little bit of an insight into how they are going to play," said Morrison.

Kenwyne Jones silenced his critics with goals either side of half time after Peter Whittingham had opened the scoring with a crisp strike from 30 yards.

Murray Wallace bagged the Terriers' goal on the stroke of half time but it could not prevent a second successive League defeat.

Temporary boss Mark Lillis has no desire to take the job on a full time basis.

However, he reckons Mark Robins' successor will inherit a side whose spirit has not been damaged too much by the crazy goings on at the club.

"Whoever comes in will inherit a good set of boys with spirit," he said.

"I have had a lot of one on ones with the group, they know where they stand with me.

"I have felt good in the dugout, the teams are performing how I want. The experience helps and I think that's why the club asked me to step in."
