Solskjaer " This League is not about playing nice football "
Monday 19th August 2014
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
" I'm happy with my squad now and I’m happy to have plenty of Championship experience. This league is not about playing nice football. We need the consistency of a team who turn up every week without fail. It’s not about tippy-tappy, namby-pamby football. It’s a battle and we have to be ready for it.
Some players have the Premier League quality. Maybe not a lot of Premier League experience, but we have quality and hopefully we can be challenging.
I have watched the match video from our match against Coventry again and that’s more my type of football, OK, we were playing a League One team, but we were away in a cup competition and many other Championship teams did not go through. We did – and in a confident manner. I was delighted, a couple of players really made me think.”

This is what I've been waiting for from Ole. Absolutely nailed it for me. The results may need to come from basically hard-fought battles. There is no point in fancy footwork if it doesn't bring results.
The old cliché of winning ugly is good enough for me. This league is relentless and ultra-competitive. Go for it!!

I agree, & as much as i want to watch fancy, free flowing football, there's going to be many games this season when we will have to scrap, & grab teams by the scruff of the neck, in order to grind out a result.

There's a lot good and correct in what he's saying but if we can play a bit of good football along the way then it can only put us in good stead if we do manage to get promoted again. We went up last time with a squad of hard working players but not a massive amount of creativity and a defence who weren't as comfortable on the ball as a lot of other teams. We know the result of that so let's get prepared now if their serious about our long term goal.

That's what Malky did and people gave him stick

No Malky just parked the bus and hoofed it to a 5"8 striker for 90 minutes.

Agree. I think we saw flashes of good football on Saturday. It's a case of getting the balance right.

Am I not alone in thinking that if we had this squad last year we would still be in the premiership?

Well too early to think that.
If this squad managers to run away with the title like Malkys team did then we might be forgiven for thinking that.
