Promotion or Cup win?

Thu Aug 14, 2014 6:32 am

Would anyone like to see us get some silverware and witness real history if as a result we didn't get promotion this year? I know cups are out of fashion in a way, but for me they are special. Not only that but would also get a place in Europe :ayatollah:

Cup win every day. Had our time in the premiership now so I'm not bothered about that. The feelings when we got to cup finals in 2008 and 2012 were amazing

Silverware please.Another season in the plastic rip off league would probably bankrupt me.Plus there are only so many times a man can be asked where the toilets are by a plastic'before a nervous breakdown. :old: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Nothing like the memories of a cup run. However, I would probably prefer to see us go up... I do love the Championship mind! Let's win it all!!! :ayatollah:

For me its a "No Brainer".

38 Cup Finals - Has to be promotion for me.

I seriously think that we have learnt some hard lessons about Premiership football and that next time we are in the Premiership we will cement ourselves there.

VT has the finances to ensure, if he wants it, for us to be a regular top 8 club. Ive always thought, with the right owner, this could happen and I believe that in within the next 5 years we will start to see some huge improvements down the club.

Ok so we have the red/blue thing. I dont wont to go down that route - as that's not the purpose of my post. But in virtually all areas our club VT has made improvements and taken us forward.

I really want to see us in Europe, its one of the few things left on my Cardiff City wish list. Sadly, a cup win is the only feasible way of doing this for the time being.

not many glory hunters here? cup win every time as only comes along once in a fans lifetime generally! we have been spoilt past 7yrs though, promotion is possible every season not cup wins :old:

A Cup win..

Its for the people/the fans. 1927 will always remain.

A Premier return boasts Mr Tan and his bank account.

I want him gone.

Simple :bluescarf:

Promotion!
It would mean a more stable financial future (and reduction of the loans owed to Tan).
The view that you can get promotion every year is puzzling. We've only managed it once in 50 years and weren't able to get promotion last year.
Cup wins are often down to luck of the draw, injuries, etc. League success requires consistency throughout a season.

Those of you going for a cup win are just going for a quick fix.

How else are we going to fill our newly upgraded stadium regularly other than by playing in the top flight?

Ask Wigan fans what they would prefer!!

We can get silverware by gaining promotion as champs or as winners of the playoff final.

We've been promoted more than once in the past 50 years!

I'm not just talking about promotion. I'm talking about promotion to the PL which what the OP was referring to.

And we've only managed that once in half a century.

If you want promotion to the Championship, we need to go down to League 1 first. Surely you don't want that!!

Like I stated, we can win silverware by gaining promotion.

I don't want our season focusing on cups at the expense of the league. To play in the PL successfully against the best clubs around has to be the first goal IMHO.

Promotion, expect OGS to use squad players for the next round(s).

Cup win all day . Pompey and Liverpool were great days . Days I will remember for the rest of my life . Not like the sensation of finishing , say 17 in prem . The mentality of clubs like Newcastle , villa etc when it comes to league cup amazes me . Then their fans bang in about no trophy in how many years
