'Let Down' Cardiff City and Coventry City supporters join forces to protest during Capital One Cup clash
Aug 14 2014

Fans of both clubs held up banners in protest to their owners at tonight's Capital One Cup first round clash

Cardiff City fans sing protest songs

The rain poured down outside Sixfields Stadium but it was not enough to dampen the endeavours of a group of passionate Coventry City and Cardiff fans tonight.

Crowds gathered on the hill overlooking Sixfields to protest at both club's current situation, which sees Coventry playing their 'home' games 35 miles away at the Northampton stadium and Cardiff still playing in red.

Armed with banners and flags organised by the Sky Blue Trust, the Sky Blues supporters took to the hill above the stadium as the teams warmed up ahead of the first round Capital One Cup match.

The gathering from Coventry were in defiant spirits, hoisting aloft banners emblazoned with various slogans which suggested their ire.

There were no Cardiff City fans on the hill, but the 359 from South Wales voiced their approval from inside the ground with a rendition of “We're Cardiff City, we'll always be blue”.

The fans were vocal throughout the early parts of the game despite Coventry falling behind inside three minutes, with a drum propelling the Sky Blues contingent on.

Think it would have had a bigger impact if everyone would have been on the hill to be honest.

Just a pity a small number of our fans once again went for the negative Vincent Tan you're a wanker song.

Not at all positive for the team and in no way helps towards getting back the blue.

I believe in the return to blue, but we must regain some perspective....

The night after we held the Eufa Super Cup in our 33K modern stadium. The season after a tan sponsored team was playing in the top division for the for first time in 50 years. We were playing but seriously outclassing another CCFC whose recent history is far more prestigious than ours with half a development team........

And we feel "let down" ????

All good points.

You can add to that the fact that most of this years players and a very high profile manager are all supported entirely by Tan. I'm not sure the negative wingers on the forum actually go to many games, let alone away fixtures like last nights.

If they do watch then they are certainly hipocrits.

Back to blue YES, continued anti Tan WELL MISPLACED

Not misplaced when you can't forgive him for the rebrand.

Perhaps misplaced wasn't the right word. I just don't think the anti Tan songs will help when it comes to getting the blue restored.

I like the impressive way the sea of blue looks during games and I think these more subtle types of campaigning are better placed. We won't change the mind of a hard headed business man with insults but we might pursuade him in other ways.

How about a song thanking him every time we play in blue. Goes against the grain for our main singing contingent I'm sure but it's got more chance of working than slagging him off all the time.

I was chatting to a few Coventry fans on the hill last night and their main issue is with the shyster private equity firm that bought them. There were stories circulating that they were moving back to the Ricoh after negotiations between the bloodsuckers and the council but apparently, this is not happening now and the issue is with the VC, not the council who own the Ricoh. Unfortunately, as soon as VC money comes into any business, all their after is selling on for a profit ASAP and its nearly always the business, or in this case, the club that suffers. The VC has promised investment but nothing ever happens so they are in limbo until they eventually off-load them. We held up those cards to support the true Coventry supporters on the hill last night who have to travel 80 miles to watch their once decent club play in an 8000 capacity ground that belongs to another club. Call me greedy, but I want my clubs identity back and also have solid finances from a single owner (never VC's) and if VT changes our colours and badge back then I would be very happy, as football investment is a precarious business as clubs like Coventry will testify.

How do you know it isn't positive for the team? You won didn't you? So it could be argued that the 'Vincent Tan your'e a wanker' song spurred the team onto victory! :laughing6:
