GREAT OCCASION AND OUR STADIUM LIVED UP TO IT

Tue Aug 12, 2014 10:22 pm

Was lucky enough to get tickets in the Category A, level 4 of the grandstand tonight for the Super Cup.

There were tickets still on sale in the Real Madrid end from the ticket office less than hour before kick off despite signs saying it had sold out, £40 tickets.

Angharad and I got to our seats and saw the new stand for the first time and you will know my thoughts on the seat colour but once the stand was full I got to say it was a stadium to be very proud of, the stadium certainly didn't look out of place hosting a top event, as I said when it was full it looked impressive indeed.

The Sevilla fans were brilliant tonight but South Wales Police spotters had their video cameras on them and the stewards were out in force trying to get them to sit down.

I was surprised that it was a non alcoholic event.

We had Hudson, Noone and Macheda sat directly in front of us and I did ask one question of Noone about his return and he said he will be back in training in two weeks.

A brilliant occasion and one we can be proud of as a club in hosting, hopefully it won't be too long before we are filing the stadium as a club side and create an atmosphere similar to that of the Sevilla fans.

say what you want about the seat colour, but looks stunning when full!

I have seen nothing but picture after picture tonight that shows our stadium as nothing short of fantastic.

This one Cal is brilliant as it shows the two tiers on both sides in one pic. Another first and very impressive.

Just need that see through plastic outside to be replaced with some nice smoked glass and backlit

I saw the stewards trying to sit the Seville Fans down during my break. They were really busy but it looked like it would be futile as they were creating a great atmosphere tonight.

Everyone to their own but personally I think people being so negative about a seat colour are ridiculous , the different colour sets our stadium apart from the usual box standard grounds and we should be proud of it. Looks fantastic and still majority of it is blue/white.

Yes i was also very proud seeing some of the best players in world football there last night, the new stand looked fantastic and certainly didn't look out of place with the rest of the stadium, we've come a long way from the ruins of ninian park to what we have today.

Brilliant night :bluescarf: ,Carl I believe all UEFA events are alcohol free
The only poor thing for me was the slow response by the stewards when the pitch invaders entered the field of play (espeacially the Ronaldo one)
All in all a successful night :ayatollah:

Annis, it was a superb evening and everyone was "into" the game, so the atmosphere was superb also!

I kept thinking to myself "This PROVES BEYOND DOUBT that the CCS can be an electric place IF the fans really WANT it to be

Thought the new stand looked awesome with all those supporters up there (and red seats out of view to the TV cameras! LOL  ) and it has certainly added to the look of the stadium

My ONLY disappointment on the night (other than dealing with a few thieving Sevilla fans at one of the outlets outside the ground) was having to pay £110 for my seats (Cat.1) thinking I would be in the Grandstand near to where Carl was and ending up (would you believe) about 5 rows dow from YOUR usual Ninian Stand seat and about 10 yards to the right of MINE!

It didn't spoil my night. It was just bloody expensive! LOL   :ayatollah:

UEFA rules.

All our Europa League games last season were the same.

Didn't realise that.

But to be fair it's been a long time since we were in Europe to be fair

That's interesting. Thanks for passing that on

A little odd, though, as there were some pretty well oiled Spaniards inside and outside the ground before and after the game, so it beggars the question of how serious UEFA are, if they don't monitor fans as they enter the stadium?

Not being able to stand and spewing over th Steward is normally a good indicator, but not last night for some reason! LOL
