Cardiff deny offer for West Ham midfielder

Mon Aug 11, 2014 1:26 pm

Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists the club have made no approach for troubled West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison.

Solskjaer knows Morrison well from his time on the coaching staff at Manchester United and has already signed several former United players since arriving at Cardiff in January.

Reports have linked the Championship club with Morrison who has a court case hanging over him.

Morrison will appear at Manchester Crown Court on August 28 after being charged with two accounts of common assault, against his former girlfriend and her mother, and harassment.

The 21-year-old is training with West Ham and can still play for the club if selected.

Solskjaer told a press conference ahead of Cardiff’s Capital One Cup tie at Coventry: “I can’t speak about other clubs’ players and Rav is a West Ham player.

“But we’ve not made any offers whatsoever.”

Some times it's better Danny Says Nothing!

What do you get (other than another notch on your 'posted' figures) from mocking and pointing such things out?

Stay well clear imo.
I remember Tan wouldnt pay for that chap from scotland a couple of seasons ago because of his off field problems and can see this being no different.

Marlon King, Joey Barton, Ravel Morrison - I don't want people like this at my club.

Ravel Morrison and Joey Barton both quality players and both helped qpr to promotion, exactly what we need,
Everyone idolizes robin Friday mental off the field but quality on it, what's the differance

Not everyone idolizes Robin Friday. Those of us around at the time know that he played very few matches for us, was a complete scumbag off the field and generally brought us nothing but trouble.A couple of decent goals and a few V signs do not amount to a major contribution. Morrison seems to be another major trouble generator.. Not even a great manager like Alex Ferguson was able to sort him out. Allardyce seems to have failed as well. What chance would the pussycat Solksjaer have? Hope we stay well away.

I think Robin Friday was a "legend" for his off-field antics and eccentric character, TBH

I loved him whilst he was here and he was "different"

I think 99% of the crowd missed the V-sign and only first saw it in the Echo later, but that is what made him a cult figure at Ninian Park and it was sad to see his demise through drug abuse and other things until his untimely death at such a young age

Jeff Hemmerman was on his way to being a City Legend until his sad injury, which effectively finished his career. What a striker he was!

Nemo, you beat me to it & very well put especially regarding Robin Friday as I was around at the time also.

Blue Magic - you're missing my point - I don't disagree that Barton & Morrison are quality players but I would personally have a bit more pride than want them here. I don't want scum playing for my club & I don't care how brilliant they may be or how they may help us gain promotion.

Sven, I suppose Friday became a bit of a cult figure but it's all a myth IMO. A true legend was somebody like Phil Dwyer.
Makes me laugh when people (usually WOL or the echo) call Nathan Blake a 'Cardiff Legend' ffs!

It suits their (WOL and WM&E) purposes, mate, and I agree on the Dwyer bit. Not many served Cardiff better! :notworthy:

Denying interest in a player means the opposite nowadays, looks like Ole wants him.

Ravel Morrison has been causing a divide amongst the powers that be at West Ham, and Cardiff City have been quick to deny rumours that they might be about to take the player off of the East London club’s hands, reports talkSPORT. Bluebirds manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has denied that Cardiff have made a bid for the attacker.

At West Ham, Morrison is the subject of an owner/manager struggle in that whilst Sam Allardyce is open to the prospect of selling him, Davids Gold and Sullivan are keen to offer the former Manchester United marksman a new contract.

Solskjaer has become linked with the player as he looks to build a Cardiff side that can achieve immediate promotion back into the Premier League after suffering relegation last year. He also knows Morrison from his time as part of the coaching staff at United, but insists that he has no intention of reuniting with the player this summer.

Ahead of Cardiff’s Capital One cup tie against Coventry, Solskjaer said, ‘I can’t speak about other clubs’ players and Rav is a West Ham player. But we’ve not made any offers whatsoever.’

Morrison has recently made the headlines for his off the pitch actions again, as he is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on August 28th after being charged with two accounts of assault against his ex-girlfriend and her mother. It is believed that distractions such as these form the basis for Allardyce’s wanting to sell the striker, but the Hammers’ owners appear determined to show faith in him.

Rumour isn't going away though, ssn reporting we are preparing a bid. I honestly think he could make a difference.
