Cardiff Target Double Signing

Monday 11th August 2014

The start of the Championship season showed that Cardiff are still a little bit light in a few areas.

Central defence is definitely one of them, despite our concerns though and OGS looking to bring in at least one but ideally two central defenders we coped quite well against Blackburn Rovers on Friday in spite of the immense pressure we invited on ourselves in the second half.

One player that's been reportedly of interest is Manchester United's Michael Keane.

The 21 year old wants to break into the first team at Old Trafford, who doesn't/wouldn't, but so far his chances have been limited and he's had loan with Leicester City, Derby County and our first Championship opponents Blackburn in recent years.

Reports say that Louis van Gaal wants him to experience another loan spell, with advice sought from his right hand man Ryan Giggs on the best way forward with the defender who impressed during a pre season tour of America.

' Cardiff are at the head of this queue? '

Another player that we are targeting, and reports of this interest is steadily growing in the mainstream media, is West Ham United's Ravel Morrison? We're interested despite the bad boy once again in trouble with the law.

Morrison has had his fair share of controversial moment in his young career to date, with several brushes with the law. His latest court case will take place at the end of the month with him charged with two counts of common assault! Against his former girlfriend and her mother, he is also charged with harassment.

The talent that the 21 year old has is clear to see, we've seen it with Birmingham City, West Ham and Queen Park Rangers on loan last season but he just can't stay out of trouble and would he be worth the risk? His controversial nature cost him his Manchester United career, which is where OGS knows him from as a youngster (even younger youngster than he is now!)

£3m is being mentioned, which would be a bargain ordinarily, with his wages to be doubled if he left the Premier League side. Doubling the money available to him is possibly not the wisest thing to do!

Exiting the Cardiff City Stadium once and for all is Gary Medel, however as yet neither Inter Milan nor ourselves have actually officially confirmed his reported £10m transfer! Nathan Blake has had his say on this with him thinking we're 'crazy' for selling him so cheaply, perhaps he has a point.

Also to depart, which is another long time spoken of deal, is Joe Mason. Fresh from a new deal he'll be joining Bolton Wanderers this season, but this deal unlike the one that took Kevin McNaughton to Bolton isn't going to be a season long loan, this one will run until January.

We cannot go anywhere near Morrison until after his court case. Which may suggest a loan plus purchase in January.

If he is found guilty he may end up inside anyway. Back in 2011 he avoided jail for witness intimidation but was told by a judge that he would serve time should he be in trouble again.

Double standards at its worst here. firstly with Marlon King and then that youngster from the academy who was (I think) dismissed, don't care how good this Morrison is supposed to be, keep the scum from here, personally I think these people are the lowest of low.

Nowhere near double standards.

Marlon King and Kevin St Luce were found guilty of assault.

Morrison has not been found guilty of anything like that..... yet.

Although Ravel already has a charge on his record it was not for anything like assault.

I think sometimes the correct approach is to "put an arm around" someone who finds themselves in trouble. Its very easy to read the newspapers and only get half the story when, in all honesty, the full facts maybe totally different.

I believe that we should treat others how we would like to be treated. I am sure there are several on this MB who for one reason or another have found themselves in trouble and, dare I say it, some may even have written a book about it ;) and in those situations I am sure we would all have liked another chance to redeem ourselves.

I guess Morrisson is no different. If we can offer Morrisson regular first team football, and show him how to enjoy his money, surely we all benefit?

I agree Paul but it does seem that this lad has had numerous chances but for one reason or another he looks to have a problem which (in my opinion) needs more than an arm around him if what has been alleged is true then he needs professional help, eg. anger management.

He ain't gonna change and the club will be taking a chance even if he is found not guilty this time.

Its a bullshit story anyway. Isn't it?
