BREAKING TRANSFER NEWS: Gary Medel joins Inter Milan from @CardiffCityFC.
SkySports reports today that Gary Medel is an Inter-player after the agreement between Inter and Cardiff finally made it to the end of the road. An official statement is expected from Inter tomorrow when the Nerazzurri will file the paperwork to Lega Calcio and have it all registered by Monday.
It’s reported Cardiff City have faxed over the documents to Inter for Gary Medel’s transfer.
The Chile international defender had been in negotiations for several weeks, but there were delays in completing the move.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cardiff City faxed the signed and counter-signed documents over this afternoon.
That effectively makes Medel an Inter player and he should have his first training session at the Pinetina ground tomorrow.
The rest of the team and Coach Walter Mazzarri won’t be there, as Inter have a friendly away to Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday afternoon.
There was a further clue Medel’s time at Cardiff is over, as the official club website has Kagisho Dikgacoi wearing his Number 8 jersey.

The big question is why do football clubs still use fax machines?
Sat Aug 09, 2014 3:23 pm
Gianluca di Marzio reports that all details for Medel’s move to Inter have been solved:
“Finally Gary Medel. The deal for the Chilean midfielder had been done during the last few days but no the last bureaucratic details have also been solved. Now the player can start working with the team. Tomorrow at Appiano Gentile only the injured players will practice which means that Medel will most probably make his first session with Inter on Monday. A new adventure is ready to begin. Finally.”

Yes Ole confirmed last night that this weekend the deal will be finalised. In my opinion, glad it's finally over

Fax machines are still widely used for the transfer of legal documents ,everything sent and received is time stamped and logged in the machine.Fax documents are accepted by Courts, emailed documents can be hacked.

Anyone know the final sale figure and how it's structured?

Inter Milan have confirmed the signing of Chilean midfielder Gary Medel from Cardiff City.
The deal is reportedly valued at £6m, with an added bonus of an extra £800k if Inter qualify for the Champions League.
Medel impressed in this summer's World Cup, helping Chile reach the quarter-finals of the tournament before being knocked out by Brazil.
The 27-year-old made 34 Premier League starts for the Bluebirds last season.

I thought Gary was sensational throughout the first half of the season but, as we all know, family issues may have gotten to him. It was a joy to see him have the likes of Yaya, Rooney and Fellaini (Everton, of course) in his pocket for a large part of games.
We were always the stepping stone, so best of luck to him.

It was always obvious he would go, but I can't be the only one who is gutted to lose him. Gd luck gary

Gary Medel has completed his £10m move from Cardiff City to Inter Milan.
In a saga that has dragged on since Medel departed the World Cup at the hands of the hosts Brazil, the Bluebirds have this evening confirmed the deal has been completed.
Midfielder Medel, who signed for the Bluebirds from Sevilla exactly a year ago was much sought after following his performances in defence for Chile this summer.
Inter led the chase for Medel all summer long while a host of other clubs from Spain to Turkey tabled bids. But last week Medel's representative Fernando Felicevich came to the UK to insist he wanted to sign for the Serie A club.
There had been much toing and froing over the price of the 27-year-old as the Bluebirds were keen to make a profit on the £9m they spent on him after his impressive performances in South America.
Piero Ausilio, Inter's transfer chief had played hardball with Cardiff all summer, insisting their relegation to the Championship had weakened their bargaining power and was keen to pay closer to £7m with payments spread over the next three seasons and had even mooted an initial loan deal.
The Cardiff transfer committee, comprising of chairman Mehmet Dalman, general manager Ken Choo and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stuck to their guns and negotiated the £10m fee but the exact schedule of payments are still to be ironed out.
Medel has been in Milan since the middle of this week and Inter were keen to push the deal through so that they could register El Pitbull for their Europa League clash with Icelandic outfit Stjarnan.
After the draw at Blackburn, Solskjaer told reporters: "As long as we get the fee we want, we will be happy to let Gary go to Inter Milan."

Inter Milan: Cardiff City's Gary Medel joins club for £10m
Inter Milan have signed Gary Medel from Cardiff City after meeting the £10m asking price for the Chile World Cup player.
Only the timetable of payments needed to be agreed between the two clubs in prolonged talks.
Midfielder Medel, 27, was Cardiff's £11m record signing from Spanish side Sevilla in August 2013.
He made 34 Premier League appearances for Cardiff who were relegated from the top flight last season.

Nothing less than he deserves after having a good World Cup. Good luck to him, and fair play to City for not being bullied over the fee.

Inter have confirmed the signing of Cardiff City midfielder Gary Medel for a fee of £10m, with the Chilean making the move after just a year in South Wales, BBC Sport has reported.
Medel became Cardiff’s record signing when he arrived from Sevilla for £11m last summer, and he went on to make 34 Premier League appearances for the club last season, but could not prevent the Bluebirds from finishing bottom of the table and suffering relegation.
He went on to play in an unfamiliar central defensive role at the World Cup with Chile and impressed as his side reached the second round, only to lose to Brazil in a tense penalty shootout in Belo Horizonte.

So many of you seduced by the bad-boy image of Medel and it all went into overdrive the time he shared a train with City supporters back from a game last season... what a legend, eh!
Out of condition - half-hearted performances and couldn't wait to get away quick enough.
Sun Aug 10, 2014 11:33 am
Well done the club for managing to get £10 million for a player who, even after the World Cup , was worth not much more than the 6 or 7 million we should have paid for him last year.

Medel signs for Inter Milan
Inter Milan have completed the signing of Chilean midfielder Gary Medel from Cardiff City for a fee of around £10m.
Medel’s departure from the Welsh side had been expected following their relegation to the Championship at the end of last season.
The Chilean, who impressed at this summer’s World Cup as Chile reached the second round before finally bowing out to hosts Brazil on penalties, joined Cardiff from Seville in August 2013 for £11m.
However, despite quickly becoming a firm favourite among the Cardiff faithful for his combative style, he was unable to prevent them dropping out of the Premier league after just a single season.
The two clubs had been in negotiations for quite some time over a possible move but it is reported that a payment schedule for the move is now all that needs to be agreed after Inter met Cardiff’s asking price.
Medel is the fourth big name departure from Cardiff this summer following the transfers of Jordan Mutch and Steven Caulker to QPR and Fraizer Campbell to Crystal Palace.

An inevitable move, unfortunately for a talented player who, for whatever reason, didn't play his best football 2nd half of the season. We overpaid last year as even a cracking World Cup campaign couldn't boost his value to the £11m we invested.
However, figures in the region of £6m-£7m were being bandied about so this is as good as it gets under the circumstances. We are missing him already IMO as a presence in midfield and, when required, defence. A lot of his contribution was unsung last year. He's a tough cookie.
All the best Gary!

He's a tough cookie? - honestly, do you think he showed that in his time with us, if you do then perhaps you can explain why he earned the nickname... "El Poodle"?

He's gone. Enjoyed his spirit in the early games but now... move on. He is dead to us.
