Ikechi Anya On His Way????

Sat Aug 09, 2014 1:36 pm

He has not been included in Watford's squad and yesterday he was going to be. I have not read or hear anywhere that he is injured. So who knows? He could of been the player that we signed yesterday or one of the two other signings that were gonna make next week.

I'd hope so. Would love a winger like him here

No Ikechi Anya #WatfordFC today as he picked up a knee injury in training.
New signing Munari on the bench, no Fabbrini in squad.

Better chance of promotion if he stays put if you ask me. :ayatollah:

On paper we have a squad that should tear this league up....... but reality is names on paper have to produce the goods week in week out. Time will tell though :bluescarf:

Really? With Gunnarsson, Dikgacoi, Eikrem and now Adeyemi all able to be the ball winning midfielders and add the flair players like Whitts, Daehli, Noone and Kimbo. I personally think we do need another out and out winger, but I am sure we'll be fine.

I think your assessment is spot on our midfield is light weight a lot of the players in there were exposed in the premiership and much will depend on adeymi and dikachoi. I'm not going to slam our players but to me some haven't had a decent spell for nearly 18 months now.

If I was a Watford fan, I would be more worried about my own team.

Plus 12 million for Deeney? Behave.

Nothing to be worried about. We have already rejected 8.5m for him, personally I think he will stay. No-one is going to be desperate to meet our asking price. This has all come about because of McCormack to Fulham, and Deeney is a much better player. The only team I can see reaching our asking price is QPR to be honest, because of Arry 'more money than sense' Redknapp.

Whittingham - Ive been really disappointed last few times I have seen him play, gives the ball away far too often and just doesn't seem to make things happen anymore. I few years ago grant you I would have bitten your hand off for someone like him to come to watford, but not now.

Daehli - I really do think this lad has potential, but I think he struggled at times last season and with even less time on the ball in the championship he could struggle again. Looked incredibly lightweight on friday night and was correctly subbed off.

Noone - I agree, I think he is a great player at the level.

Kimbo - Considering he is an attacking midfielder, he has a real issue finding the back of the net. He is hardly the sort you can rely on to score if your midfield is having a bad game. I always really thought he was only brought in because of Tan, and probably against Malky's wishes.

Burgstaller - Complete unknown entity, I don't really know enough about him to form a decision, but as we've seen at watford over the last couple of seasons, some of these european players just don't adapt to the championship.

Gunnarsson - Always rated Gunnarsson but he had a really difficult season last year. I think the championship is more his level and should be a key player for you.

Eikrem - Like Daehli I just think he will struggle in the championship, lightweight and whenever Ive seen him play ineffective.

Adeyemi - Having spent more time watching Birmingham last season than yourselves, I can honestly say he is nowhere near as good or effective a player as Mutch. He was one of the better players, in a very poor Birmingham side. Not the sort of player who can grab the game by the scruff of the neck. I also hear he's a bit of a c***.

Dikgacoi - Good championship player, but nothing more.

Unfortunately I think the sort of player you need is just on his way out of the door.

Hard to argue with pretty much all of that, aside from Whitts

Whittingham's general play may not be what it was 3 years ago.. but just like our promotion campaign his set piece taking will be absolutely critical to us this season.

absolutely insane prices being bandied about for players in the championship nowadays.

if they quote £10-12m, just try your best to keep a straight face, and get the hell out of there. thats my advice to mr dalman :ayatollah:

Some interesting bullet points on our midfield hornet fan, & for me, there lye's our problem, lack of creativity & dynamism.

Both Whitts & Gunnarsson have been disappointing, & im not a big fan of Kimbo either. for me our midfield has been our weak link for the last couple of seasons, & hopefully this new season will improve,,,but not with the players we currently have!

A couple of seasons ago I would have said that either of them could have walked into watfords midfield. Nowadays Im not so sure. With a fit again Abdi, and the likes of Toszer, McGugan, Munari all experienced players I think they would struggle to get in the team.

I always try to be fair, but on paper I can't help but feel that we have the better midfield. Still it means absolutely nothing unless you get points on the board.
