The Bluebirds have opened talks with the Hammers over a move for the controversial England Under-21 star.

It is understood the Championship side have made an informal offer for Morrison.

The forward has been at the centre of controversy over the past week. He was remanded in custody over an alleged assault on his ex-girlfriend and her mother in Manchester last week.

And Cardiff's interest could yet be scuppered over his ongoing court case.

Nevertheless, Solskjaer still remains keen on taking the talented forward next season.

Morrison's future at Upton Park is unclear, with manager Sam Allardyce and the board appearing to be at odds over the forward.

Allardyce has publicly stated that Morrison is unlikely to feature in his plans next season, while co-owner David Sullivan insists the former Manchester United man remains central to the Hammers.

However, it is understood the Hammers will give serious consideration to a formal offer from Cardiff.

Solskjaer believes he is the man who can finally coax the best out of Morrison.

The pair worked together during Solksjaer term as United's reserve team manager, so the Cardiff boss knows first hand Morrison's huge potential.

Cracking player and is definitely technically gifted, performed well for QPR. I don't know what his attitude was like there before the court case. I'm a MASSIVE fan of Ole but is Ole really that mean/stern enough to control the attitude of a player like Ravel? Redknapp is a big name in football and managed to.

Ravel's time at United had a bit of controversy as well. A great player and I'd love him here if he was fully focused but I just don't see him ever settling down from his problems

West Ham are about to sign Morgan Amalfitano, who's a very similar player.

Apparently the chairmen of West Ham have an agreement with Big Sam that he HAS to play Ravel this season. They even said this themselves on TalkSport

Very good technical player & does graft & I'd like us to go back in for him but he does go missing if against a strong opposition player. When things are not going his way he's in invisible but of course when he's on song he's a class act.

Personally I'd be surprised to see him go to another championship side as I think he's better than that I also thought the same when we got him but if you get him & can control him he's a match winner.

I've been hoping for this for a while, and always get the usual "bad attitude" comments when I say it would be a great signing. There's no doubt that this kid is special and for £3million, I would rip west hams hands off for him. Ole is very very shrewd in the market imo. If they accept the rumoured £3million, that would mean we have brought in Tom Adeyemi, Ravel Morrison and Adam Le Fondre - all for around about the price Mutch left for with 12 months on his contract - very good business.

He could be pivotal to our campaign if he signs, one of those players you always wonder how good they could be if they sort their head out, similar in that respect to Adel Taraabt (who is now on his way to AC Milan) and even in some ways to our very own cult hero Craig Bellamy.

Isn't Olly our Manager ? Didn't think his previous job was a social Worker Good player but a liability in terms than you would have no idea if he would be available very week and not lanquising in some cell.

Sounds like a Phyco to me, he certainly isn't a Malky type player thats for sure. If Ole thinks he can handle him and can justify taking on a stalker and woman beater thats his call. What I don't get is he gets women throwing themselves at him and yet he spends his spare time trying to make his ex girlfriends life hell, what's that all about? Could he poison the dressing room? Would the other players get on with him or even want to talk to him?

I'd take him.

A gamble for sure but there is no doubting this guys talent, I still believe we need another wide man with creativity and pace.

he's worth a punt, he's got talent but no drive or the attitude to fulfil his potential (up to now). could OGS change that? i doubt it but he's got twice the ability of anyone here. i think his wages will be very high though, we'll probably have to pay him £30k+ a week, but thats no issue considering some people on here advocated spending more than that on a 30 year old centre back.

Cardiff City are in talks with West Ham United for a £3 million move for troublesome midfielder, Ravel Morrison, according to Goal.

Morrison, 21, has one year remaining on his contract with the Hammers but the east London club are keen to get rid of him following his arrest last week. He spent several days in custody following allegations of assault and West Ham’s manager Sam Allardyce is thought to be fed up with his off-the-field antics and wants rid.

Cardiff, who finished bottom of the Premier League last season and drew with Blackburn Rovers last night, are thought to be closing in on Morrison who did well for Queens Park Rangers in their promotion pursuit last season.

Morrison spent the second half of the season on loan with QPR and starred as Harry Redknapp’s side won the play-offs against Derby County, who were many people’s favourites in the final.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Cardiff boss, is keen on bringing the troubling midfielder to south Wales and believes he can work well with him having previously worked together at Manchester United in their youth ranks.

Also should have mentioned I spoke to a few QPR players at an awards ceremony last season & every single one of them said he had a fantastic attitude & a great attitude towards training. For £3m I think he's well worth the risk. That mind of money is absolute peanuts in the current market for a talented British kid.
