Huddersfield starting 11

Sat Aug 09, 2014 6:19 am

How would you line up? I would go:

Marshall

Brayford
Hudson
Connolly
Fabio

Burgstaller
Adeyemi
Whittingham
Dhaeli

Jones
Le Fondre

Having trouble with midfield. Seems very 1 paced and is still full on players who would operate better centrally.

Don't think either centre back can be dropped for Cala

I don't think Jones is a player we need to be starting with at home. I'd go with Maynard and Le Fondre, unless the other guys are fit.

Be interesting to see if Cala starts, as we don't have the bodies to central defence for the Coventry game, so Cala might need to come in on Saturday just to give someone a rest.

I would only play whitts in a five man midfield, caught out again last night he's always trying to play the ball which is ok at times but not when we have a light weight midfield. I hope dikachoi is fit play bergstaller and adyemi with kadeem

Midfield looks imbalanced... Need Noone back big time.

I would like to try two strikers with ALF sitting behind - with a three in midfield. But I think in such a formation there is no role for Whitts

Could 3-5-2 work in this league.

We will have enough centre backs and brayford fabio as the wingbacks whilst noone is injured. We clearly lacked width yesterday and maybe this could solve our problems.

Alfie/maynard would be a waste on the wings

Its a tricky one. We have about 20 players who would start in most Champiosnhip teams, but none of them are OUTSTANDING.

There's also Whittingham... IMHO he HAS to play - his passing, set-piece and link play are superb and he's our most creative player.

However to make the best of him he needs 2 workers alongside him. He tries hard, but he's not a ball-winner. If we are playing 2 strikers then there's only room for 2 central midfielders.. so then do we sacrifice a winger for a grafter - or push Whitts onto the left where he's less effective ?

Lots of players to keep happy. Who plays in the centre Adeyimi or Dikgachoi - where does this leave Gunnarsson ?

All 4 centre halfs have a case, with the best one in my eyes injured for 6 weeks. The 3 left are all decent, but none stand out - they all have weaknesses.

There aren't many automatic starters... probably only Fabio, Marshall and Whitts in my eyes and I'd bet there are plenty who would drop 2 of those

It's going to take some time for this side to settle.

I'd start with the same back 5, Whitts, Adeyimi, Daehli, Berstaller, Le fondre & Jones, but I'm not 100% sure

Tough decision.

Yes it could, but I'm not sure about bringing it in now. Its something I would have lieked to see him try in pre-season.

It would certainly suit the likes of John, Fabio and Brayford.

It would allow us to play Cala and make use of his footballing ability without worrying about him being exposed.

He would almost be doubling as an extra defensive mid, allowing us to play 2 flair player in the midfield 3 perhaps.

it might give us a bit more balance and defensive stability and also give the opposition something t think about.

Something like

Marshall, Fabio, Turner/Connolly, Cala, Hudson, Brayford, Whitts, Adeyimi, Noone/Daehli, Le Fondle, Jones would be interesting.

Absolutely no place for Whittingham. He's our weakest link. We could do better without Maynard too. We need a stronger midfield combination urgently.

Marshall
Brayford
Hudson
Connolly
Fabio
Digakoi
Adeyemi
Gunnarsson
Daehli
Kenwynne
Le Fondre

Oh ....and Ole! No playing people out of position like you did with ALF yesterday!

Agree completely with the 3-5-2 would like to have seen it in pre-season

Cala is technically a good footballer and around two solid centre backs like turner and hudson he would thrive.

Same for the 2 fullbacks who are very attack minded and could work and we have a talented enough choice of midfielders. Im not sure Daehli is a winger and would like to see him more central, it seems we have a lot of players who we try to play on wing who dont look at ease.

Even whitts at time yesterday looked like he didnt want to play out on the wing, and again i dont see burgstaller as a winger. For the talent we have our lack off width could be our down fall at times this season espically if we want to play fast counter attack football
