Seven forwards

Thu Aug 07, 2014 10:34 am

There are seven forwards in the Cardiff squad at the moment. Two too many isn't it? Solskjær brought in three (counting Guerra who I don't believe he had much to do with). The club is probably stuck with Kenwyne Jones because of his wages. That leaves Mason, Maynard and Velikonja. What do you think? Mason and Velikonja loaned off?

I can see Maynard given a chance, with Mason/Velikonja will get loaned out. Wouldn't be surprised to see one of Jones/Maynard/Guerra go in January if they're not performing (as they're not OGS signings).

Good to have options though! Doubt all will hit form but wouldn't be surprised to see any of our 5 out and out strikers hit 20 this season.

Hasn't Mason gone back to Bolton?

Maynard has been in fantastic form this season and deserved his goal against Wolfsburg. He's got a part to play.

Mason, for some odd reason, will be loaned rather than sold, and we know that Velikonja has no future with us.

Alfie, Macheda, Jones, Maynard and Guerra will be enough for the Championship.

He hasn't gone yet has he?
I'm sure Ole said that he wanted to tie Mason down to a new contract before sending him back to Bolton for 1st team football! :ayatollah:

Skysports now:
"We're hearing that Joe Mason is set to return to Bolton on loan from Championship rivals Cardiff. The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international forward has already had two previous loan spells at the Reebok Stadium. Mason, 23, is expected to sign a new deal with his Welsh employers before heading north once more."
