Cornelius scores again.

Thu Aug 07, 2014 9:48 am

He's now just a few games away from playing the big boys in Europe.

WE NEVER GAVE HIM A CHANGE.

The problem wasnt that he would never be good - but he wasnt ready - and was priced out basicly.

Signed him for too much and his wages were too high. His contribution wouldn't have matched his wages.
Hope they don't qualify :ayatollah:

I don't think he was premiership standard.

The attachment issues some grown men have to departed players...

I said that he was a decent player and likely to be a very good player given time. I hope he does well.

Because of the cost and hype Our fans expected too much and they did not give him a fair chance to prove himself. Many labelled him as a hopeless cart horse. Unfortunately the manager got him at the wrong price and wages.

City compounded that error by selling him back at a huge loss. We should have looked at other options - revised contract (and remain with us) or on loan. He would have done really well in the Championship imo. But it may be that this was not possible due to the terms on which MM signed him.

Cornelius was signed when we were in the premiere league so wether he be good in the championship or not is beside the point.
It's like saying Berget might start scoring for fun in the Scottish league, we made a mistake in letting him go to Celtic.
The manager at cornelius club was a flop at wolves in the championship but excels with copenhagen, takes then to champions league again. Don't think wolves fans are crying for him to come back.
Players find their level, Danish league is cornelius level, he wouldn't have played with all our strikers anyway if he was here.
Plus you forget he was on a 5 year contract at 40 k a week, had to get rid.

Although you might have a point, I´m not convinced that Copenhagen would do so bad in the championship. Remember that they not only qualified for Champions League just a few seasons ago (2009/2010), they also made it to the knockout stage after i.e. holding Barcelona to a draw at home ground. That said, Cornelius didn´t seem to become a hit at Cardiff. Some players just won´t make it others places than at home.

The lad isn't a bad footballer. But he got signed for a fee and on wages that should mean he could perform alright in the PL. He's just not ready. If watch him through a whole FC Copenhagen match now, you can se glimpses of a quality player that needs time to develop. Still makes too many bad choices, is very inconsistent, doesn't look very comfortable with the ball in his feet (unless the pace of the game is very slow) and shoots with too much power when he doesn't need to. I doubt he will ever be a top class striker, but maybe a championship goalscorer or bottom-half Bundesliga target man.

I just feel sorry for everyone involved when it comes to his transfer and time at CCFC. Too high fee, wages, expectations and injuries on a young lad who couldn't handle the pressure. Best of luck to him. With Macheda, Le Fondre, Maynard, Jones and Guerra he'll be the last thing on my mind this season.

The guy broke his ankle!!! You don't just get up n start where you left off it takes time which people never game him. Look at Ramsey I know it's a different injury but he got abused by Arsenal fans when he came back and now look it him!

If fans hadn't jumped on his back he definitely could of done a job for us
