Birmingham boss Clark tells Adeyemi to reject Championship advances.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=145112

Birmingham City manager Lee Clark believes it would be a mistake for Tom Adeyemi to join another Championship club – because he’s Premier League quality.

The Blues have rejected a bid from an unnamed club, believed to be Cardiff, for the midfielder, and also announced they have turned down the 22-year-old’s transfer request.

And Clark claims the ex-Norwich man should set his sights higher than a club in the same tier as the Midlands side.

“It’s not great timing to be honest,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show, when asked about the midfielder. “I’m not surprised but, for me, he doesn’t need to go to another Championship club. He’s a Premier League player.

“He’s a fantastic young man. I’ve known him since he was 14 or 15, when we worked together at Norwich. He’s very intelligent and is developing into a really top player. Tom has kicked on again this summer.

“We’ve made him vice captain of Birmingham at 22 years of age, that tells you what we think of him. He’s a leader.

“The news broke last night, which isn’t ideal in the week leading up towards the season. Things never run smoothly though.”

As expected, manager trying desperately to hold on to him by stating he's Premiership class. Club holding out for more cash.
While on the other side, player declaring his intentions and agent with him all the way.
If we are the unnamed club, I wouldn't be surprised to see him unveiled at the CCS by the weekend. :ole:

Really hope he'll be tempted enough to join an ambitious CCFC side. Great attitude, great drive and stamina and a quite complete midfielder from what I've seen. And the perfect age. Could really be a gem. Does anyone know if he's been offered a new contract? His current contract expires june 2015 from what I hear.

Would you guys like to see him at CCFC?

Wouldn't at all be surprised if agent and player are pushing for the move.

Trouble is he would just be a peripheral player in most prem sides but coming to a side that looks from the outside like a club hell bent on going up would be a good move. Then theres the Ole factor, thats something that us fans may be underestimating--more pulling power than Malky thats for sure.

The manager is playing games..
Unless there are PL teams looking to buy him he is obviously better of playing for a championship contender than a club that's usually in danger of dropping down to league 1. If he does well with us he will either go up with us or bigger teams will take notice. No brainer.
